Census, 1880 at Genealogy Online (This is a place on the web that has the 1880 census for all states. The only thing bad is you cannot look at it there. You have to download it. You can download a state at a time then have win95 or win98 find the name you are looking for by using find. Then go look at the file that it is in. Go to http://bpftp.com and download the bpftp and install it then go to http://genealogy.org click on 1880 Census directory and pick out the state.) Note: Only 1% of the census is completed.

Collections of the William L. Clements Library - This site is great! This library is in Michigan, but has many papers, letters, etc. from many states. I found 18 letters written by the brother of my gggrandfather during the Civil War. (He was from Ohio) These were written to his wife and discussed the war but he had many questions about the family he left. He was in his 40's so he joined the war late in life. I sent to the library and asked if it was possible to have copies and I had them in one week with the bill. It cost $14 and was well worth it. Give it a try, you never know!
