FIGUEIRA
My great (x4) grandparents were Luis & Geneveveva (or Genoveva) Figueira. I found their name on you web site in the article "Testimony of Living Witnesses".They appeared again in Jo-Anne Ferreira's article Ship News. She listed L. Figueira, wife and 7 children arriving 9-16-1846. This corresponds to my information. They left Madeira 8-23-1846, arrived Trinidad 9-16-1846, on William of Glasgow. Arrived Spfld. IL May 1851. I'm only aware of six of their children, Nicholas 11-10-28 to 2-1-1891, Augusta 4-9-1835 to 12-31-1912, Lucy? 1836-1880, Joseph 10-15-1841 to?, Manuel 12-24-1842 to 11-12-1890., as well as another daughter .
Nicholas was the father of 8. His sixth child was Luis W. 2-1886 to 7-23-1923 who married Elizabeth Heckler on 7-27-1893. (I have a family bible which belonged to these two with some dates and names in Portuguese) They were my great grandparents.
Luis & Elizabeth had 7 children, one son Arthur Louis Figueira Sr. and 6 daughters , only 3 of the girls reached adulthood. Arthur married Mary Bastin and produced 1 child, (my father) Arthur L. Jr.
Now you probably know more about me than you ever wanted to know. I have names of most of the other brothers & sisters, but I would like to be able to fill in all the blanks, with correct names dates etc.
I've really enjoyed searching so far and I was very excited when I came across your website. I'll keep working at it.
Thanks for letting me bend your ear.
Nancy (Figueira) Hay Springfield, IL
