I have some FERNANDES in Hawaii and some through Ellis Island and some I just don't know. My Hawaii FERNANDES can not be found on any ship lists coming into Hawaii from Madeira. Since they are from the Madeira area I thought I would give (MadeiraExiles) a go.

Manuel FERNANDES married a Franciscia MARIA. Son Antonia FERNANDES. As for dates I only have the son, Antonio FERNANDES (ALEIXO) dob abt 1836 in Ponta Degada, Madeira - nothing on the parents. The ALEIXO name was dropped although several of his grandchildren were baptised with it no one used it in either Hawaii or California.
