My name is Carrol FERNANDES LUCAS. I am researching my family's surname: FERNANDES/FERNANDO, GONCALVES/GONSALVES/GONCALO. My grandparents came from somewhere in Madeira, Portugal. On Nov 10, 1913, in St Vincent Church they were married, then sometime in 1915 they came to the US. John and Amelia FERNANDES settled in Fall River, later moving to Ludlow and Springfield, MA. They had 14 children. John lived from June 17, 1892-Aug 1991. Ameila GONCALVES lived from April 9, 1895-Jan 1987. They were married 60 years. My father was Leo FERNANDES who lived from Oct 26, 1930-Oct 13, 1898.
