Henry Sanders FERNANDES died when my mother, Annabel, was 3 years old. She was taken by the Children's Home Society of California when she was about 5 years old. So, most of this family history that follows was unknown to her.

My grandfather, Henry Sanders FERNANDES, was born 1 April 1866 in Jacksonville, IL. Married Alice DEFREITAS-date unknown. This was the 2nd marriage for Henry. He and his family moved to Prescott, AZ in 1906. He died 25 July 1909 in Prescott.

Great grandfather, Manuel P. FERNANDES, was born May 1830 in Madeira. He married Mary RODRIGUES probably in Morgan County around 1853. He died 26 January 1910 on "Portuguese Hill." Buried in Jacksonville East Cemetery.
