Most days, we take this walk from our apartment to the Igreja Baptista/Baptist Church.
Four mornings a week, Deb walks Drex to Fundação... and on Sundays, the entire family walks to church.

Here's our apartment building. We live on the bottom floor or, rather, "o Res do Chão" which is hidden by the trees. The apartment photo was taken from where Drex is standing (photo, right). This is one of two alleys we cut through to reach the Praça República.

Emerging from the alley, we are in the center of Old Braga: Praça República.
Right-hand photo: notice the surrounding mountains. Braga is relatively flat but the surrounding countryside is wooded and hilly.

Cutting diagonally through Praça República, we have five more blocks to go -- three of which skirt ANOTHER large praça with fountains and a playground. Then we duck through a tunnel (Drex's favorite part)...

... and there's Fundação, Drex's pre-school which is run by the Igreja Baptista. (Drex's classroom is on the top floor, the two left windows.) You'll notice that this building doesn't look like a church. Interestingly, only Catholic churches can have "church" buildings in Portugal.

From here, we re-trace our steps home again.
