From the reprint [1972] of the Journal of John Fontaine, an Irish Huguenot Son in Spain and Virginia 1710-1719
the photo's were added to this reprint of the book by the Colonial Williamburg Foundation of Williamburg VA.
In 1735 and 1736 several members of the Fontaine Family in London had Thomas Worlidge [1700-1766] draw their portraits. He customarily charged 2 guineas-for these popular drawings.
The book under Fontaine's hand is probably his manuscript Journal.
The orginal drawings have disappeared, but Miss Ann Maury had them copied about 1840 in Liverpool. The copies belong to Anne Fontaine Maury [Mrs William] Hirschfield of Delray Beach Florida, who has kindly permitted their reproduction in the book.
