Subject: [FOUNTAINE-L] FOUNTAIN/FOUNTAINE/FONTAINE
Edward FOUNTAIN was born circa 1778 in Virginia. His parents were Joseph &
Mary (Goode) FONTAINE. Edward is listed on the 1810 Christain County Kentucky
census as Edward FOWNTIN with a wife, 2 daughters & 1 son. He is listed on the
1818/1820 Madison County Illinois census with 20 people in his residence, 12
over 21 & 8 children. In 1816 in Madison County Illinois he applied for a
permit to open a tavern and he served on a jury in 1820 there. In 1830 he was
on the Madison County Missouri census. In 1850 we found him on the Wayne
County Illlinois census at age 72, with wife Elizabeth age 41, daughter
Ariminta age 13, son Granville age 10 & son McDonald age 4. Also on the 1850
Wayne County Illinois census were Joseph FOUNTAIN age 42 b circa 1808 KY,
Henry FOUNTAIN age 27 b circa 1823 MO, and Pleasant Edward FOUNTAIN age 21 b
1829 Madison County Illinois. On the 1860 Wayne County Illinois census only
Henry FOUNTAIN's widow Elizabeth & children Mary A, Louisa & Stephen were
listed. We know Pleasant FOUNTAIN married to Melvina TUCKER moved to Missouri,
Arkansas and then to Kansas. We do not know where the others went. We need
proof that Joseph, Henry & Pleasant were Edward's sons & if not we need help
finding their parents. The court house in Wayne County Illinois burned down in
1886 so locating records is a problem. We are stuck in our research on Edward
FOUNTAIN and are asking for help from anyone who has informaiton on him, his
wives, and his ancestors. We will gladly share any information we have.
