WILLIAM T. BASKETT is the only son of Lemuel and Mary (Guthrie) Baskett, and
was born in Shelby County, Ky., November 14, 1848. The parents are, respectively, natives
of Shelby and Woodford Counties, Ky. Job Baskett, the paternal grandfather, came from
Virginia to Shelby County, Ky., about 1800, and Thomas Guthrie, the maternal grandfather,
was also a native of Virginia. Lemuel Baskett was born in 1810, and died in April, 1866.
William T. Baskett, who was reared to farming, is the owner of 120 acres, four miles west
of Shelbyville, which land was purchased by his grandfather, and on which Lemuel Baskett
was reared. December 16, 1873, William T. Baskett married Miss Sallie Guthrie, daughter of
Coleman and Mary (Crawford) Guthrie of Monroe County, Mo., and there have been born to him
four children: Annie, Katie, Lemuel and Crawford.
