Message Board Post:

I just discovered an 8th G Grandmother but know nothing about her other
than I think she was married to a Bourgeois [but who?] based on this
following reference in a book by Glenn Conrad:
“Inventory of the Community Property of the Late Jacques Bourgeois
and His Wife, Marianne Sauvage. Upon learning of the death of Jacques
Bourgeois on the farm of Marianne Chevalier, Widow Bourgeois, his mother,
Bellile goes to his house to take an inventory of the community
property. The inventory is taken by Henri Beaufin and Louis Falgoust in the
presence of Marianne Sauvage, wife of the decedent. Community property
appraised at 1457 livres. Done in the presence of the above named
individuals and Joseph Bourgeoise, brother of the decedent.”
So "his mother, Bellile, goes to his house" I assume means that the
mother of Jacques Bourgeois was named Bellile.... now is that a first or a
last name. Well there is a Bellile surname, so I'm assuming it's a
surname. Jacques' father was obviously a Bourgeois, but what was his first
name?
So, can anyone help with this?
Thanks.
R Hotard.

I think that Carlin's Settlement was near Charenton. Chicot Noir was
Jeanerette in the old days.

The Carlins were from the German Coast. They are shown as from France
and
from Italy on different records. Marie-Therrese Carlin was the daughter
of
Francois Carlin and Marianne Sauvagin who was from Bordeaux, France.
She was
their only child but Marianne Sauvagin had 2 other husbands: Jacques
Bourgeois and Francois Senetiere.

Marie-Therese was reared by her uncle, Joseph Carlin [some have mistakenly shown her as the daughter of Joseph].

Joseph Carlin was married to Francoise Lange and one record shows that
she
was a Quadroon so their children [Marie-Therese's 1st cousins] were
Octoroons.
