Jean and his wife, Francoise, had fifteen children, all born at Port Royal.

Our first ancestor of Acadian birth was Jean, son of Pierre, born in 1657 in Port Royal. In 1677 he married Françoise Hebert, daughter of Etienne Hebert from Normandy. They had 15 children before the death of Françoise in 1713. Jean remaried with Catherine Joseph, a Mic-Mac woman of the area and had another daughter. We are able to follow his life through different documents. He was visible on the 1671 and 1686 censuses, we see his mark on an oath of allegance to the King in 1695, and later in 1703 on a bill of sale for 10 mast, 50 feet long, for the King's navy. One of his sons, François, took up work in the village as an apprentice gunsmith and later moved to Québec with his boss and brother-in-law, J.B. Soulard. I will write of his short and complicated life in the big town later on. Jean left us in 1720. Of the 15 children of Jean and Françoise, Pierre gives us the continuity of our branch. He married Suzanne Bezier in Port Royal on the 25th of January 1704. On the act of marriage we see the signature of Felix Pain, Recollet missionary and Du Chambon, governor of Acadia. In the 1714 census, Pierre is said to be married with 4 children. He seemed to have spent his life farming on or near his father's land. Four of his children, Alexandre, Guillaume, Etienne and Marguerite married into the Blanchard family, a bond that will last all the way to St-Ours, their refuge after the deportation. We lost track of Pierre, but Suzanne, his wife, died in Québec in 1757, at 82 years old. She made it through the troubled times only to die.
