Joseph Broussard left Halifax in November 1764 and, by way of Santo
Domingo, arrived in New Orleans on or just before 19 February 1765.
Before 24 April 1765, he lead a group of 58 Acadian families
consisting of 231 individuals to settle in Attakapas.

My research indicates all of these families were imprisoned in
Halifax or in Fort Edward, except for the possibility of one from
Fort Cumberland (old Beausejour) [Charles Dugas, son of Charles Dugas and Anne Robichaud, and his siblings.]

A second group arrived from Halifax on or shortly before 16 May 1765.
This seems to have been a small group (30 individuals?) and again all
were imprisoned in Halifax or in Fort Edward. This group settled in
Opelousas.

A third large group came from Halifax arriving in New Orleans on or
shortly before 30 November 1765. So far, I have identified 17
families (76 individuals) I think came with this group, all of them
imprisoned at Fort Edward or at Fort Cumberland (old Beausejour).

This Denis LOUIVIERE is the 4th great grandfather of my husband. His
ancestry/origins have become a major BRICK WALL of mine, so ANY input
regarding ANY possibilities will be GREATLY appreciated!

Denis LOUIVIERE’s 1st marriage found in BRDA Vol. 3 - 1804-1819, p. 589
&
830,:

LOUVIER, Dennis (Michel and Marie Josephine LOUBIERRE) m. 27 May 1817
Marie
Anne TOUPS, wid. Antoine Frederic (Paul and Marie LAMARE) wit: Alexi
Mayer;
Lucin Lanclos; Jose Simoie (SGA-11, 279).

I CANNOT FIND ANY RECORD OF HIS PARENTS, MICHEL & JOSEPHINE LOUBIERRE
!!!

Marie Anne TOUPS was buried 27 Mar 1828 at St. Gabriel, Iberville
Parish,
Louisiana, “…at age 56 yrs. old (Paul & Marie TOUPS) spouse Dennis
Louviere…” BRDA Vol. 4 - 1820-1829, p. 530

Although I cannot find any record of re-marriage for Denis, he fathered
a
child with Marie Modeste Henriette LANDRY, the then widow of Joseph
Theodore
RIVETTE.

The birth record of this child can be found in BRDA vol. 5 [forgot to record the page number].

Marie Arthemise LOUVIERE (Denis & Marie Modeste Henriette LANDRY), was
born
15 Mar 1831 and baptised on 16 Mar 1831 at St. Gabriel, Iberville
Parish,
Louisiana. Her sponsors are listed as “Iribert Hébert & Clarisse
Reboul”

By the time Denis LOUVIERE died he and his family [at least his 2nd family]
had moved to St. Landry Parish.

SWLR CD 101:

LOUVIERE, Denis d. 9 Dec. 1846 at age 70 years (GC Ch.: v. 1, p.70)

The following July, Marie Arthemise marries Henry Hargroder, the then
widower of Marie Euphrosine Neraut.

1850 Census, St. Landry Parish: Denis’s “widow, age 60 [sic]” is
found
living in close proximity to the Hargroder’s & also two of her
daughter’s by
her 1st marriage. It is this census information that convinces me that
I
have the correct mother of Marie Arthemise LOUVIERE.

I have connected Marie Modeste Henriette LANDRY, all the way back to
the 1st
of the Landry(s) of her line, but I sure do need help in connecting
Denis
LOUVIERE, her 2nd spouse.

Rita.

Amerindian woman, (2) FRAN<;OISE-MARIE JACQUELIN, &
(3) JEANNE MOTIN de REux.
Explanatory Note C.-J. d'Entremont
It seems that his daughters [Jeanne, Antoinette, and the other] were not the
only children Charles de La Tour had with his first wife. A strict
interpretation of the texts shows that there were as well some sons, at least
two, because the plural is used. Indeed, in the civil marriage contract
between Charles de La Tour and Jeanne Motin, dated February 24, 1653,
it is stated:
With regard to Messieurs the minor children of the first marriage of the
said Seigneur de La Tour, he will leave them for their subsistence Cape
Sable with all its dependencies, together with all and sundry of the
goods which may fall to and belong to him through inheritance from old
France. (Emphasis supplied by Father d'Entremont.)
