i. Jacques Hebert was at the head of the list of refugees at the Pre-des-
Bourg in 1752. On the list, he is followed by Pierre Arseneau with "his
two sisters," who were the children of Jean Arseneau and Marie-Jeanne
Hebert. This clearly suggests that Marie-Jeanne was Jacques's daughter.
Also listed at the Pre-des-Bourg in 1752 was "Marie Bernard widow,"

whose husband Pierre Hebert had been, according to Father Archange
Godbout, another child of Jacques.
ii. Benoni Bourg was likewise at the Pre-des-Bourg in 1752. According to
the refugee census, Jacques Hebert and his family hadjust arrived there.
It would appear that Benoni Bourg's future wife must have been one of
Jacques Hebert's daughters reported in the January 1752 census. Note
that Benoni Bourg and Marie-Josephe Hebert named their first son
Jacques.
iii. Joseph Doucet's wife can be identified through a similar line of
reasoning. Joseph Doucet is listed at the Pre-des-Bourg, too, unmarried
in 1752 and married in 1754-1755. Apparently his wife was the other
girl who resided in Jacques Hebert's household in 1752, but who was
gone from the family home by 1754-1755.

Explanatory Notes 8.A. White
i. The children of Charles Gautrot and Marie-Josephe Hebert were born
between 1737 and 1753, while those of Franyois Bourg and Marie-
Josephe Hebert were born between 1739 and 1754. There were thus two
Marie-Josephes in Jacques Hebert's family.
ii. The marriage record of Cecile's son Jean-Baptiste LeBlanc (Rg 8t-
Servan 3 May 1774) was signed by Charles Hebert, "the groom's
uncle." At the time, there were two Charles Heberts among the
Acadians in the area around St-Servan: Charles it Jacques and Charles
it Guillaume. The latter was indeed an uncle of Jean-Baptiste LeBlanc
Junior, having married Jean-Baptiste's father's sister, Elisabeth LeBlanc,
but he could not sign his name, as his own marriage record (Rg GP 13
Aug 1748) clearly shows. The one who signed the St-Servan register
was thus Charles it Jacques, whose signature also appears in the Grand-
Pre register (28 May 1733). Thus it can be proved that Jean-Baptiste
LeBlanc Senior's wife was a daughter of Jacques Hebert and Marguerite
Landry .
iii. Laurent Granger and Marguerite Hebert were deported from Les Mines
to Virginia in 1755. By 1763, Laurent had become a widower and was
at Southampton, England. Accompanied by his three sisters, he appears
on the list of the Acadians who embarked on the corvette L ~mbition in
order to be repatriated to France. On this list he follows Jacques
Hebert's son Joseph, who had been deported and retransported in the
same manner. The juxtaposition of these families in these documents
leads to the conclusion that Laurent Granger's wife was a member of
Jacques Hebert's family.
