When our Lord Jesus ascended into heaven, His hands were lifted up in blessing. The remembrance of His uplifted hands was to assure the disciples of His continued blessing. The hands of the Lord Christ are still lifted up in blessing upon His Christian Church. Of this fact we members of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church are constantly reminded by the statue of the blessing Christ which adorns our altar. Christ is the Head of His Church, and He is ruling and governing all things for her welfare. We remind ourselves of this fact particularly at this time of the anniversary of our congregation, as we review the seventy-five years of its history. They have been years replete with the manifest blessings of the Lord Christ.
