1. John Henry HARTKE was born on 15 Aug 1820 in Germany. He immigrated between 1840 and 1850 at Cook County, Illinois.1 He moved to Iroquois County, Illinois in 1868.1 He bought 40 acres from the Illinois Central Railroad for $520 and began farming. He died on 13 Sep 1907 in Iroquois County, Illinois.2

John Henry HARTKE and Anna BRUNS were married in 1847 in Cook County, Illinois.
There are two default sources for the material on the John Henry Hartke family. One is the Krumwiede Family Reunion Book, begun in 1941 and maintained annually at Krumwiede family reunions. The other is a compilation of Hartke family records by Ryan Hartke Veatch and his wife Maryellen Day Veatch, published in 1996. The first is not always cited as a source when it applies as it applies to some degree to nearly every record in these files. The second will be cited as a source only when new or additional information was obtained from the work -- information not known from the Krumwiede records.
Anna BRUNS was born on 12 May 1824 in Illinois. She died on 27 Sep 1872 in Iroquois County, Illinois.3 Assumed John Henry HARTKE and Anna BRUNS had the following children:
