My brother Elmer died this afternoon (Wedensday) in Phoenix Az. He had been
on dialyses for over a year and a half 3 times a week and then he had to go
on it 4 times a week. He started to get weak and had increasing pain which
prompted him to stop the dialyses last Sunday. He was the Son of Ernest and
Ida (Saathoff) Krumwiede and brother to Mildred , Marvin, (deceased) and Orval.

Elmer Henry Benjamin Krumwiede 83, of Mesa, (formerly of Colorado Springs CO)
died July 24, 2001 at Vista Care Hospice in Gilbert AZ. Born Oct. 31, 1917 in
Buckley IL. He is survived by his wife Hazel, as well as son Robert of Duluth,
MN, daughter, Jeana Liesenfelt of Chandler AZ and granddaughters Cynthia Seagraves
and husband Brad of Chandler, Gretchen Krumwiede of Minneapolis, MN and Erin
Krumwiede of Vancouver, WA. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, July
28th at Victory Lutheran Church, 5946 E. University Drive, Mesa, AZ with services
at 3:00 p.m. with interment at Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale,
AZ. Memorials can be made to Vista Care Foundation, 4222 E. Thomas Rd., Ste 220,

MESA, Ariz. - Elmer Henry Benjamin Krumwiede, 83, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of
Colorado Springs, Colo., and a former area resident, died Tuesday (July 24, 2001)
at Vista Care Hospice in Gilbert, Ariz.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the 3 p.m. services at Victory
Lutheran Church, 5946 E. University Dr., Mesa, Ariz.
Interment will be in Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, Ariz.
Memorials may be made to Vista Care Foundation, 4222 E. Thomas Rd., Ste. 220,
Phoenix, AZ 85018 or Good Shepherd Villa, 5848 E. University Dr., Mesa, AZ 85205.
Mr. Krumwiede farmed in Illinois for 25 years. When the couple moved to Colorado
Springs, Colo., in 1968, he became a maintenance supervisor for May D&F stores
(now Robinson-May). After retirement, he enjoyed flowers and gardening.
He was born Oct. 31, 1917, in Buckley, the son of Ernst and Ida Saathoff Krumwiede.
His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Hazel Lucille Giertz, whom he married March
7, 1940, of Mesa; one son and daughter-in- law, Robert and Laura Krumwiede of
Duluth, Minn.; one daughter, Jeana Liesenfelt of Chandler, Ariz.; three granddaughters,
Cyndi (Brad) Seagraves and Gretchen Krumwiede of Minneapolis, Minn., Erin Krumwiede
of Vancouver, Wash.; one sister, Mildred Ennen of Loda; and one brother and sister-in-law,
O. Wayne and Grace Krumwiede of Falls Church, Va.
One brother, Marvin, is deceased.
He attended the Chebanse Lutheran School and Chebanse High School.
He was active in Lion's Club; was a leader in 4-H Clubs and was active at Zion
Lutheran Church in Chebanse. He was also active at Immanuel Lutheran Church in
Colorado Springs.

MESA, Ariz. -- Hazel Lucille Krumwiede, 86, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Colorado
Springs, Colo., and Chebanse, died Aug. 11, 2004.
Services were held Aug. 14 at Heimarck Memorial Chapel at Good Shepherd Villa
in Mesa.
Interment was in Green Acres Cemetery, Scottsdale, Ariz.
Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Villa (new assisted living center).
Mrs. Krumwiede worked several years in the Credit Bureau in Kankakee, as well
as the Credit Bureau in Colorado Springs.
She was born Sept. 7, 1917, in Chebanse, the daughter of William and Emma Giertz.
Her husband, Elmer, whom she married March 7, 1940, died July 24, 2001.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Laura Krumwiede of Duluth,
Minn.; one daughter, Jeana Liesenfelt of Chandler, Ariz.; three grand-daughters,
Cyndi (Brad) Seagraves of Chandler, Ariz., Gretchen Krumwiede of Burnsville,
Minn., Erin and Lang Unger of Milwaukie, Ore.; one great-granddaughter, Madeline
Unger of Milwaukie, Ore.; one sister, Viola Brault of Chebanse; two brothers
and one sister-in-law. Elmer Giertz of Chebanse, Robert and Vera Giertz of Betendorf,
Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Chebanse Lutheran Church and Immanuel Lutheran Church,
Colorado Springs, Colo., and was active in the Ladies Aid groups at each church.
She also was active in the Kankakee Homemakers Extension.
She and her husband moved from Colorado Springs to Mesa in December 2000.
