Services conducted for George H. Tholen
George H. Tholen, 71, of Bonfield, father of a Buckley man, died Monday morning
(Jan. 16, 1989) at the Riverside Medical Center emergency room following a sudden
illness.
Visitation was Tuesday at the Schreffler-Orrison Funeral Home in Herscher. Funeral
services were Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Herscher. The Rev.
Gene Baumann officiated.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made for the church.
Mr. Tholen was born Aug. 15, 1917 in Buckley to George and Wilhelmina Krumwiede
Tholen.
His wife, the former Dorothy Eheart, whom he married Oct. 4, 1942, at St. John's
Lutheran Church in Buckley, survives.
Also surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wilmer and Laura Tholen of
Buckley and Merle (Moe) Tholen of Bonfield; three grandchildren; one sister,
Esther Kietzman of Roberts; and a brother, Edwin Tholen of Kankakee.
Mr. Tholen was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Irma.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the National American Legion.
Mr. Tholen had been employed for 30 years as a truck driver by Hendrix in Herscher
before retiring in 1982.
He was buried on 18 Jan 1989 in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Herscher, Illinois. George H (George Jr.) THOLEN and Dorothy (Dort) EHEART had
