Young Mother Dies After Year's Illness
Mrs. Harold Anderson passed away at her home in Heron Lake township last week
Wednesday, June 12, at the age of 32 years, 11 months and 5 days. Her health
began to fail a year ago, but not until last October was her illness diagnosed
as cancer. At that time she underwent an operation with the hope of staying
the progress of the ravages of the disease and perhaps effecting a cure. In
January and February of this year she submitted to three more operations. She
rallied somewhat, but did not become strong enough to leave her sick bed.
Mrs. Anderson, nee Lydia Stuermer, daughter of Reinhold and Clara Stuermer,
was born in Belmont township July 7, 1907. She was baptized by Pastor P. J.
Ristau in her infancy and confirmed by Pastor A. Paul of Immanuel Lutheran
church of Lakefield.
On September 8, 1929, she became the wife of Harold C. Anderson. This union
was blessed with two sons, Floyd, 7, and Clinton, 4. For a time after their
marriage the couple lived on the Theo. Johnson farm, then moved to the Evenson
Bros. farm; the past five years they have resided on the Hendrickson farm in
Heron Lake township.
Mrs. Anderson is survived and mourned by her husband, two sons, her father
and stepmother (her own mother having preceded her in death); one sister, Mrs.
Ellsworth Krueger, two half sisters, Anna May and Mary and one half brother,
Reinhold Jr., and many other relatives and friends. Funeral rites were held
at the home Saturday, June 16, at 1:30 p.m. and at Immanuel Lutheran church
at 2:15 p.m., Rev. A. E. Wenger conducting the services. Burial was in Immanuel
Lutheran cemetery in west Lakefield.
Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. Wm.
Cady and daughter Myrtle and Mrs. Frank Cady, all of Fairmont; Mr. and Mrs.
Theodore Freitag and Mr. and Mrs. August Freitag of Sherburn; Mrs. Leonard
Krumwiede of Windom and Mrs. Malinda Severson of Amery, Wis.
Lydia STUERMER and Harold ANDERSON had the following children:
