Buckley -- Marlin E. "Chick" Hilgendorf, 67, of Buckley died at 5:15
a.m. Saturday (July 23, 1994) at his home after a short illness.
His funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley, the
Rev. Edgar L. Peters officiating. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Buckley,
with military rites accorded by the Buckley American Legion Post.
Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Buckley, and
one hour before the service Monday at the church.
He was born Nov. 7, 1926, at Buckley, a son of Edward F. and Laura Hogrefe Hilgendorf.
He married Pauline F. Hyde Oct 20, 1951 at Paxton. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Edward M., Buckley; a daughter, Ellen Mary Hilgendorf,
Chicago; and two sisters, Irene Luhrsen and Viola Sheetz, both of Buckley.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
He attended St. John's Lutheran School and graduated from Buckley High School
in 1944. He was employed at Kraft Inc., Champaign, for 25 years, retiring in
1988.
Mr. Hilgendorf was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church and for several
years served on the finance committee.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 and was a member and past commander
of the Buckley American Legion Byron Hickerson Post No. 432.
He was also a grounds keeper for Buckley Dutchmasters baseball team in the Eastern
Illinois League.
