Ellis M. Hartke, 86, Buckley, died at 7:55 p.m. Monday, July 1, 1985, at Greenbrier
Nursing Home, Piper City, following an illness of two years.
He was born June 26, 1899, at Delrey to George H. and Emma Ringeisen Hartke.
He married Elsie A. Lietz on Aug. 25, 1918, at Buckley, and she survives.
Except for a few years spent in Minnesota, the couple lived all their married
life in the Buckley area.
Other survivors include three sons, Reuben, Elizabethtown, Ind., Marlin of Beecher
and Keith of Buckley; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and four
sisters, Verna Janssen of Buckley, Viola Garrelts of Paxton, Lillian Rey of Benton
Harbor, Mich., and Esther Schultz, Detroit.
Three sisters and two brothers are deceased.
Mr. Hartke was employed 38 years as an auto and truck mechanic for F. W. Lietz,
Buckley, retiring in 1963. He later worked part time for But Walters Farm Dealership
and then owned a small engine shop.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley, and the AAL. David Hagen
will officiate at services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Church, with burial
in the church cemetery.
Friends may call for 6 to 9 p.m. today at Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Buckley.

Elsie A. Hartke
BUCKLEY - Elsie A. Hartke, 95, a longtime resident of Buckley who had resided
at the Palmwood Health Care Center in Piper City for 11 years, died at 7:32 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 3, 1994, at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Buckley.
The Rev. Gunard Heikkila will officiate, and burial will be in St. John's Cemetery
here.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Ford Baier Funeral Home in
Buckley and at the church one hour before the services Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mrs. Hartke was born Sept. 3, 1899 in Buckley to Mr. and Mrs. August Leitz
Her husband, Ellis M. Hartke, whom she married Aug. 25, 1918 at Buckley, died
July 1, 1985.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Reuben and Virginia Hartke of
Elizabethtown, Ind., Marlin and Arlene Hartke of Beecher and Keith and Ruth Hartke
of Buckley; and 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild.
Besides her parents, a brother and a sister are deceased.
Mrs. Hartke, who attended St. John's Lutheran School here, had been employed
by the Electronics Corp. of Watseka for several years.
A member of St. John's Church, she was a charter member of the Ladies Aid Society
and also was a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League, the Gray Ladies and the
American Legion auxiliary at Buckley.
She was buried on 6 Sep 1996 in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Buckley, Illinois.
