Theodore Hartke
Buckley relatives attended funeral services on Tuesday for Mr. Theodore Hartke,
Kankakee. Mr. Hartke, 81, died Sunday in the St. Marys Hospital, Kankakee, where
he had been a patient since November 9th, when he suffered a fall, receiving
a fractured hip. His death followed complications.
Born November 25, 1881, at Buckley, the son of Wm. Hartke and Mary Krumwiede
Hartke.
He was married to Miss Pauline Kaufmann at Kankakee on April 13, 1912, where
the couple lived. She preceded him April 19, 1949. Surviving are one son, Kenneth
of Kankakee; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Laura Wilkens, Rolla, Mo., and
other relatives.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded by a sister, Mrs. Tillie Wilkens in
1918; a brother, Geo. Hartke in August 1955; a brother Henry Hartke, who lived
in Minnesota.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 19, in St. Paul Lutheran Church,
Kankakee, where he was a member. Burial was in Mound Grove Cemetery near Kankakee.
Rev. Herbert H. Bohlman officiated. Rehr & Kaiser Funeral Home was in charge.

Word was received here Tuesday of the death of Mrs. Paulina Hartke, 60, of Kankakee,
who died at 3 a.m. on Tuesday, having suffered a hemorrhage on Monday and been
failing for several years. Funeral arrangements incomplete. She is survived by
her husband Theodore Hartke, and one son Kenneth, both of Kankakee, three brothers,
George and Martin Kaufmann of Buckley, Edward Kaufmann of Rantoul, and four sisters,
Mrs. Lizzie Koschnick, Mrs. Lillie Krumwiede, both of Buckley, Mrs. Allie Priesel
and Miss Clara Kaufmann, both of Kankakee. She was preceded in death by two brothers,
Fred and William Kaufmann and one sister, Alma. She was born at Buckley, the
daughter of August and Fredericka Kaufmann.
