Carl George (Charlie) HILGENDORF was born on 21 Oct 1898 in Buckley,
Iroquois County, Illinois. He died on 3 Dec 1978 in Cape Girardau,
Missouri.232

Carl G. Hilgendorf, of Jackson, Missouri, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, December
3 at the Cape Girardeau Lutheran Home after an illness of a year.
Shortly after his graduation from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield,
he was ordained into the ministry of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in 1922
at East Moline, Ill. He served the Lord of the church for 43 years, serving parishes
in East Moline, Geneseo and Alton, Ill., from where he retired in 1965.
On July 9, 1922, he married the former Elsie Steinmann of Buckley. She survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Lois Weis of Jackson, Mo.; two sons, Merle of
Downers Grove and Stanley of Godfrey; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren
and one brother, Arthur of Donovan.
Five brothers and five sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held
December 6 at the Messiah Lutheran church in Alton. Rev. Charles Carl George
(Charlie) HILGENDORF and Elsie Dorothea Matilda STEINMANN were married on 9 Jul

Dorothea Matilda STEINMANN (daughter of Heinrich George STEINMANN and Mary
