Ms. Barlow:
I am Kenneth Williamson. My great grandmother was Emma Leone Krumwiede Freitag,
who was the daughter of Henry Konrad Krumwiede and Sophia Dorothea Sternberg.
Within the past couple of months, I visited the Iroquois County Genealogical
Society in Watseka, IL to try to find some information re: the Krumwiede family.
What a wonderful surprise awaited me! Your work on the Krumwiede family is indeed
a TREASURE! I am in awe of your wonderful work,--and so please to connect with
the family of my great grandmother.
I was born in 1941. I was not quite thirteen when Great Grandma Emma passed away
in January, 1954. I did not know her very well, since she lived in Sherburn,
MN and I was born/raised in Fulton County, IL (west-central IL). But I do have
some personal recollection of her. Nearly every summer, I would accompany my
parents to Sherburn, MN to visit with my mother's family, the Theodore Freitag's.
My mother, Verlie Margaret Emma Freitag Williamson, was the first born child
of Theodore Freitag (my grandfather) who, in turn, was the oldest child of Emma
(Krumwiede) and August P. Freitag. Verlie lost her mother (the first wife of
Theodore) when she was just 4 years old. So, Emma and August P. Freitag nearly
raised my mother for several years until my mom rejoined her father after he
remarried.
My mother always loved her grandmother, Emma, and spoke appreciatively and kindly
of her and of her grandfather, August Freitag, as well.
Anyway, for several years I have wanted to find out more about Great Grandma
Emma's family. Now that I have just recently retired, I have some time to pursue
those family connections. And your study/work was just there waiting for me at
the Iroquois County Genealogical Society. THANK YOU so very much!
My mother passed away nearly 5 years ago. But I do have an elderly uncle who,
of course, remembers his grandmother, Emma, very well. He (Marshall "Bud"
Freitag) has kept a family tree of his father's (Theodore) family.
I couldn't help but notice that there wasn't any entries in your study after
the children of Emma and August P. Freitag.
If you would be interested in getting info on the descendants of Theodore Freitag,
I could work with my Uncle Bud (now 94 years old) and get that to you. If you
have a format in which you would like to have it completed, please let me know.
I would like to obtain a complete copy of your most recent edition of the Descendants
of JuRGEN HEINRICH KRUMWIEDE ---. Is it published or available in some manner?
I would be happy to pay for copy(ies).
Again, I am so pleased to have discovered your work, truly a treasure for me.
