First Generation

1. Johann "Jürgen" Heinrich KRUMWIEDE died in 1847. Marie's death notice seems to say that she was married to Jurgen for 22 years, placing his death in 1847. This record was modified on 7 Feb 2000. Added given name based on marriage certificate of Heinrich and Dorothea, obtained from Hagen parish
The name Jürgen is the source of the name George in the family. Both fathers -- the fathers of Henry and August and Dorothea and Louisa -- are named Jürgen Heinrich, which translates as George Henry.

The "Default Source" for descendants of this couple is "Krumwiede Family Records," whether or not that source appears in the citations. This record was begun in 1940 as a concerted effort to gather all possible information on the family and to keep it updated on a yearly basis. Dates prior to 1941 must be considered heresay unless bolstered by another source. Dates following 1941 probably were recorded within one year of occurrance, but still are heresay unless supported. The original hand-written book is on deposit at The Iroquois County Genealogical Society, Old County Courthouse, Watseka, Illinois. The records have been computerized and are online at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~loretta/
Hard copies of the records as they exist on a given day may be ordered from me for $40 including all notes and sources (subject to change as the book gets larger and priority postage goes up). Books with less information can be ordered at costs ranging from $10 (bare facts only) to $20 (some expansion of facts, but not all).

Johann "Jürgen" Heinrich KRUMWIEDE and Katherin "Marie" BUCHHOLZ were married on 4 Nov 1825 in St. Dionysius Ev. Lutheran Kirchengemeinde zu Steimbke.1,2

The default source for descendants of Jürgen Heinrich Krumwiede is the Krumwiede Reunion Book as begun in 1941 and maintained to this date, with updates entered at family reunions held annually in Buckley, Illinois. Other sources are listed as they apply.

Katherin "Marie" BUCHHOLZ was born on 27 Mar 1805 in Hannover, Germany.3 She died on 15 Sep 1878.4
1878
Maria Stege, b. Buchholz, b. 27 March 1805 in Hannover, d. 15 Sep 1878, age 73 years, 5 months, 19 days m. Jurgen Krumwiede (seems to say they were married for 22 years and he died, then the date Jan. 1826 appears but not sure to what it refers, then...) a passage appears that indicates she came to America (the word America is clear) m. Heinrich Stege and they were married 12 years (which would put their marriage in 1866, but I did not have time to verify that). It is probable, but not proven, that her death took place in Buckley. She was buried about 17 Sep 1878 in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Buckley, Illinois. Section B, Row 11. Trustee's map simply says "Mrs. Stege." It is the church funeral record that identifies her as Marie Buchholz m. both Jurgen Krumwiede and Heinrich Stege. This record was modified on 7 Feb 2000. Added person (identity previously unknown) based on marriage certificate of Heinrich and Dorothea obtained from Hagen parish.
