25. Emma Mary KRUMWIEDE
was born on 1 Oct 1870 in Buckley, Iroquois County, Illinois.53 She was in the news in 1895.37
Sept. 20, 1895 -- Mrs. Frank Luhrsen is reported much better. She was ill with
typhoid fever in Sep 1895.109
Dr. Bossert has three other patients suffering with that malignant disease,
typhoid fever. They are Mrs. Rutledge, Mrs. W. Meadows and Mrs. Frank Luhrsen.
She died on 3 May 1959 in Buckley, Iroquois County, Illinois.110,111
Mrs. Luhrsen, 88, long time Buckley resident, dies
Mrs. Emma Maria Luhrsen, 88, a lifelong resident of Buckley except for the past
two years, died at the Hattione Jones Nursing home in Onarga, Sunday morning
at 3:30 o'clock. She had entered the nursing home last Wednesday. She had been
in failing health since the beginning of the year.
Born October 1, 1870, at Buckley, she was the daughter of August and Louise Schneweiss
Krumwiede [this name goes back one generation too far: Schneweiss was the name
of her grandmother; her mother's birth name is Sternberg]. Her marriage was on
April 27, 1890, to Ferdinand Luhrsen of Buckley, who died in September 1957.
Surviving are five sons, Adolph of Cissna Park; Richard of Buckley; Alfred of
Buchanan, Mich., Albert of Watseka, with whom she had made her home the past
two years, and Edwin of Phoenix, Ariz; two daughters, Eleanor McMillan of Glendale,
Ariz. and Paulice (Pauline) Rice, South Bend, Ind.; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren;
and three great-great grandchildren. One daughter, Meta Akeright, died in December,
1957. Mrs. Luhrsen was the last of seven children.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 7, at 1:30 p.m. from the Kelley
Memorial home and at 2:00 p.m. from the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church,
with Rev. W.A. Eissfeldt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Kelley Memorial home 7 to 9 o'clock Tuesday evening.
Mrs. Luhrsen was the oldest member of the Ladies Aid society of the church.

LUHRSEN (son of Frederich LUHRSEN and Charlotte LUEHRS) was born on 25 Feb
1863 in Addison Township, DuPage County, Illinois.50,113 He was
in the news in 1895.37
Sept. 20, 1895 -- Frank Luhrsen has made and put on one of his buildings a fine
miniature wind mill. We have not, however, investigated whether he utilizes its
power.
