Geo. Krumwiedes Celebrate 25th Anniversary
Buckley - A potluck dinner was held on New Year's Day, in the Ash Grove church
basement, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. George Krumwiede who celebrated their Silver
Wedding anniversary. George and Etta Theesfeld Krumwiede, who now reside in Fort
Wayne, Ind., are former residents of Buckley. They were married by the late Rev.
Chris Braeunig in St. John's Lutheran church on January 1, 1940.
Friends and relatives traveled long distances to be present for the occasion.
The happy couple were the recipients of many gifts. The table was decorated with
a lovely four-tiered anniversary cake, baked by Mrs. Mildred Ward of Buckley,
and a "money tree" laden with shiny silver coins, a gift from Etta's
mother, sisters and brother. The tree which was beautifully sprayed and sparkled
with silver dust was made by Mrs. Dorothy Janssen.
One of the highlights of the afternoon's fun was when the Krumwiede boys (George,
Fritz and Carl) entertained the group by putting their heads together and singing
some of the old songs that they used to sing together many years ago. Before
the afternoon came to a close, everyone was joining in the song-fest and Ash
Grove's church basement rang with happy voices singing Christmas carols.
The Krumwiedes are the parents of six children, Mrs. Ed. (Loretta) Jacobs (should
be Jacob) of Cincinnati (should read Cleveland); Barbara, attending college at
Ann Arbor, Mich.; and Allen, James, Greg and Keith at home.
