The following transcription is taken from  a  poor  copy  of  the
original located in Amelia County,  VA  Deed  Book  10,  page  7.

     THIS INDENTURE made this twenty ninth day  of  June  in  the
year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and  Sixty  eight  Be-
tween Jonas Jordan of the Parish of  Raleigh  in  the  County  of
Amelia of the one part and Edmund Booher of  the  same  parish  &
county--
     Witnesseth that for and  in  consideration  of  the  Sum  of
Eighty pounds current money of Virginia . . . paid . .  .  before
the Sealing and Delivery of these presents .  .  .  Jonas  Jordan
have granted . . . unto Edmund Booher and his heirs  one  certain
Tract or parcel of land lying and being on the Branches of  Sandy
Creek in the County of Amelia aforesaid  containing  two  hundred
Acres . . . [originally] . . . Aaron Meadors  by  Patent  Bearing
date the first day of August one thousand Seven hundred  &  forty
five and Bounded as followeth to wit,
     Beginning at a ______?_______ corner in William Ruckers line 
Thence East Eighteen Degrees north along the said Jonas  Jordan's
line Eighty poles to a corner pine thence  east  thirty  nine  de-
grees north along the said Jordan line one hundred and two  poles
to a corner white oak thence South fourteen  degrees  East  along
Ward & Henry Meadors line to John Harris's  corner  thence  along
the said Harris line to a corner Spanish  Oak  in  William  Wairs
line & thence along the said Wair line to a corner Beach  in  Wil-
liam Ruckers line and thence along William Rucker's line  to  the
Beginning and all houses buildings, orchards, ways, waters, water 
courses, profits, commodities, ?hereditaments  and  appurtenances
whatsoever . . . 
     "To have and to hold" the land hereby conveyed and  all  and
singular other the premises hereby bargained and sold .  .  .  to
the only proper use and Behoof of him the said Edmund Booher  and
of his heirs and assigns forever . . . the said Jonas Jordan  now
at the time of sealing and delivering of these presents seized of 
a good sure perfect and indefeasible estate of inheritance in fee 
Simple of and in the premises hereby Bargained & sold and that he 
hath good power and lawfull and absolute authority to  grant  and
convey the same to the said Edmund Booher . . . (the  quit  rents
hereafter to grow due and payable to our soverign lord  the  King
his heirs and Successors . .
     In witness whereof the said Jonas Jordan hath  hereunto  set
his hand and Seal the day and year first above written.

At a Court held for Amelia County the 28th day of July 1768  This
Indenture was acknowledged by  the  within  named  Jonas  Jordan,
party thereto and ordered to be Recorded.  Winefred wife of  said
Jonas personally appeard (sic) in Court  and  having  been  first
privily examined as the Law directs voluntarily Relinguishes  her
Right of Dower in the land and premises Conveyed by the  said  In
denture.
