Turner, may be a son of, or perhaps even the William Turner of Hawkchurch who is recorded in the marriage register at Whitchurch Canonicorum as wedding Eleanor Biddle on 10 August 1708; this conclusion is based on the repetition of the name Eleanor amongst the families of his two sons (note that the names (Dorothy, Robert, William and George are also repeated):

        (2)  William Turner, probably born about 1715-1725, was living in Hawkchurch in 1747; married 8 December 1747 at Whitchurch Canonicorum, Dorothy Love. The marriage register at Whitchurch indicates that the marriage of a William Turner and Agness Love occurred on 24 December 1747, less than three weeks after the marriage of William and Dorothy; it is reasonable to conclude from this that perhaps Dorothy died soon after their wedding and that William married her sister Agness (marrying a former spouse's sibling was a common practice), but Hawkchurch records clearly name Dorothy as the mother of William's children born in subsequent years, discounting such a conclusion. Other Love family marriages during the same time period at Whitchurch include that of Elizabeth Love of Hawkchurch to James Bradford of Marshwood on 22 September 1741, John Love of Hawkchurch to Elizabeth Bartlett on 9 June 1748, and Martha Love to John Genge on 7 February 1755. The parentage of Dorothy, and her relation (if any) to Agness and these other Loves is not yet known.

        Two records for marriages to a Robert Turner labeled "widower" can also be found in the Hawkchurch parish registers, one to Betty Honibone on 11 August 1793, and the second to Ann Quick on 5 December 1803; further research is needed to determine whether either of these pertain to Robert, husband of Hester Sanford.
