Edward Rainsford, born about 1606 in Staverton,
Northampton, England, died on 16 Aug 1680 in Boston, Massachusetts. His first
wife, Mary,
died in June 1632, probably as a result of complications in giving birth to
twins. He remarried to Elizabeth, who on 15 December 1633 was "admitted
to Boston Church." She died 16 november 1688.
Edward was immigrated with the
WInthrop fleet aboard the Abigail with 220 passengers, embarking from Plymouth,
England, and landing at Boston, Massachusetts, on 4 June 1635.
He was Deacon of the First Church
of Boston, and is famous in colonial history as a leader of that congregation.
