The Burns Family of Londonderry, Ireland and Beaver County, Pennsylvania
James Burns (Abt. 1755 - Aft 1806) was born about 1755 in Londonderry, Ireland, and emigrated to America, but the precise date is not known. His wife was Eugenia "Gene". He settled in Beaver township, Beaver county, Pennsylvania where he was a taxpayer 1802-1806.

Samuel Burns Sr. (1776-1853) was born 1776 in Londonderry, Ireland, son of James and Eugenia Burns. He died February 4, 1853 in New Sewickley Twp., Beaver Co. He married first in about 1807 Martha Tucker, daughter of Allen Tucker and Martha Coppock. They had two children.
He married second in about 1811, Martha's sister, Eleanor Hart Tucker, daughter of Allen Tucker and Martha Coppock, born 1791 in Virginia. They were the parents of ten children.
The first services of what is now the Unionville Methodist Church in
were held in the house of Allen Tucker. The first members were - Allen
Tucker and Martha, his wife, George and Grace Champion, John Ferguson
and wife, and Adam Johnston and wife. The place of preaching was soon
changed to Samuel Burns', near Brush creek, in New Sewickley township,
and after some time a log-house called Myser's meeting house was erected
about one mile south of Unionville.
In the 1815 North Sewickley, Beaver County Tax Lists, Samuel Burns is listed as having 2 horses and 2 cows.

Rhoda A. Burns (1834-1924) daughter of of Samuel and Ellen (Tucker) Burns, married About 1865, the widower of her sister Mary Ellen, Martin Humes (1830-1881) son of Patrick and Susan (Martin) Humes.
