First Generation


1. (Unknown) Hagan. Lived and died in Ireland
       
  They had the following children:

    ii. Brian. Born and died in Ireland.
       
    iii. Sadhbh. Born and died in Ireland. Sadhbh married a Mr. McCullough, and their children, Michael, Henry, and Patrick emigrated to the United States and settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Second Generation


2. Charles Hagan. Born about 1770 in County Londonderry, Ireland. Charles married Mary Conlon. Born in Ireland, Mary died there about 1850. Shortly thereafter, Charles came to this country at the age of 82 with his two daughters, Kate and Susan. He lived in Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio, with his son James until his death on 1 Sep 1854 at the age of 84. He is buried in St. Paul Cemetery in Dungannon.
       
  They had the following children:
       
    i. Hugh. Born in 1805 in County Londonderry, Ireland, Hugh was a storekeeper. He came to Philadelphia in 1843. He had 8 sons and 2 daughters, but all died early of tuberculosis except for one son, John.
       
  3. ii. James (1809-1881)
       
    iii. Patrick. Born in County Londonderry, Ireland, Patrick married a sister of J. Pickney Grantham in Florida. Patrick was shipwrecked and drowned in the Seminole War.
       
    iv. Charles. Born about 1814 in County Londonderry, Ireland, Charles died of cholera in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1845; he was 31.
       
    v. John. Born about 1817 in County Londonderry, Ireland, John came to America about 1835. He remained in Pittsburgh with his cousin, Col. Henry McCullough and worked for his company. After a few years he moved to Jollytown, Greene Co., Pa., where he went into partnership with his cousin Patrick McCullough and ran their store. He was elected to the legislature in the fall of 1872 and was to have taken office the first of the year, but died of pneumonia on Dec. 24. According to a history of Greene County, he owned over 700 acres there at the time of his death. John died in Jollytown, Greene County, Pennsylvania on 24 Dec 1872; he was 55. He is buried in St. Paul Cemetery, Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio.
       
    vi. Kate. Born in County Londonderry, Ireland, Kate died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was buried there.
       
    vii. Susan. Born in County Londonderry, Ireland, Susan died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was buried there.
       
    viii. Mary. Born in County Londonderry, Ireland.

Third Generation


3. James Hagan. Born in 1809 in County Londonderry, Ireland, near Tubermore, Draperstown and Magherfelt. He came to this country in 1834 or 1835 with his brothers Charles, Patrick, and John aboard the Osprey from Moville to Philadelphia in a stormy voyage of 40 days. He met Elizabeth Donnelly at the home of his cousin, Col. Henry McCullough, in Pittsburgh and married her on 6 May 1839 in St. Paul Catholic Church in Pittsburgh. Elizabeth was born 1819 in County Armagh, Ireland. They had their first residence on the Canal at Little Tunnel in Columbiana County, Ohio, and opened a small general store in 1839 at Tunnel Hill (near Aunt Mary Brinkey's house) where he sold goods for seven years. In 1846, they moved to Dungannon with their three small children, the oldest (John) having died. James served as Postmaster in Dungannon for more than thirty years. He retired in 1877. James died in Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio on 30 Nov 1881; he was 72. Elizabeth died there on 16 Jun 1886; she was 71. Both are buried in St. Paul Cemetery, Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio.
       
  They had the following children:
       
    i. John (Died as Child). Born about 1840, John died in infancy. Buried in St. Paul Cemetery, Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio.
       
    ii. Mary Jane. Born on 7 Nov 1841 in Hanover Twp., Columbiana County, Ohio, Mary Jane married Francis Meehan. He died when he was only 28 years old, and Mary Jane died on 25 Sep 1884 at the age of 42. The had no children. Francis and Mary Jane are buried in St. Paul Cemetery, Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio.
       
    iii. Charles. Born on 24 Sep 1843 in Hanover Twp., Columbiana County, Ohio, Charles died there on 24 Sep 1933; he was 90. Buried in St. Paul Cemetery, Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio. On 12 May 1874, when Charles was 30, he married Mary Elizabeth Wernet, daughter of William Wernet & Eve Rosine (Rosanna) Casper, in St. Philip Neri Church, Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio. Born on 12 Sep 1851 in Hanover Twp., Columbiana County, Ohio, Mary Elizabeth died in Toronto, Ohio on 17 Feb 1932; she was 80.
       
    iv. Elizabeth. Born in Jul 1845 in Hanover Twp., Columbiana County, Ohio. Elizabeth married Edward McCallister.
       
    v. Margaret Ann. Born on 28 Oct 1847 in Hanover Twp., Columbiana County, Ohio. After her father retired, Maggie operated the store with her brother Charles until she died. Maggie was walking in inclement weather to the home of some people who were ill in order to take care of them, and she caught pneumonia and died on 20 Apr 1874; she was 26. She is buried in St. Paul Cemetery, Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio. After Maggie died, their brother John became Charles's partner in running the store.
       
  4. vi. Catherine Elizabeth (1851-1932)
       
    vii. James Francis. Born in May 1852 in Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio, James Francis died in Wise, West Virginia on 11 Aug 1904; he was 52. Buried in St. Paul Cemetery, Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio. James Francis married Mary Hastings.
       
    viii. John Edward. Born in 1855 in Hanover Twp., Columbiana County, Ohio, John Edward died there in 1934; he was 79. Buried in St. Paul Cemetery, Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio. John Edward married Clara Maria Doyle. Born in 1858, Clara Maria died in Hanoverton, Columbiana County, Ohio in 1946; she was 88.
       
    ix. Cecelia Antoinette. Cecelia Antoinette died on 20 Mar 1903 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
       
    x. Patrick. Born in 1861. Buried on 28 Aug 1892, Patrick died in Aug 1892; he was 31.

Catherine Elizabeth Hagan


4. Catherine Elizabeth Hagan. Born on 9 May 1851 in Columbiana County, Ohio, Catherine Elizabeth died there on 14 Feb 1932; she was 80. Buried on 17 Feb 1932 in St. Paul Cemetery, Dungannon, Columbiana County, Ohio. On 28 Jun 1881, when Catherine Elizabeth was 30, she married Adam Brinkey, son of Lewis Brinkey & Margareta Walburga Pfeffer, in Dungannon, Ohio, St. Philip Neri Church. Born on 25 Apr 1841 in Hanover Twp., Columbiana County, Ohio, Adam died there on 11 Aug 1902; he was 61.
