Ballentine


First Generation


1. George Ballentine. Born about 1635 in England, by 1652 George was in Lower Norfolk County, Virginia, as an indentured servant to Christopher Burrough, deceased, with three years left to serve.5 Before 16 Jun 1662, George married Frances Yates in Lower Norfolk County, Virginia. She was born before 1641, and had married Richard Markham in 1657, by whom she had one child, John. George and Frances lived in Southern Branch, Elizabeth River, where by 1682 he had 660 acres, including 450 acres which had been granted to John Yates, Frances's father.7 George died in Norfolk County, Virginia in 1702;6 he was about 67.
       
  They had the following children:
       
    i. Frances. Born in 1664/1677, Frances died in Norfolk County, Virginia in 1720; she was 56. Before 1687, when Frances was at least 23, she married Henry Deale in Norfolk County, Virginia. Henry died in 1716 in Norfolk County, Virginia.
       
    ii. George. Born about 1663 in Norfolk County, Virginia, George died in Norfolk County, Virginia in 1733; he was about 70.
       
    iii. Thomas. Born before 1680 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Thomas married Sarah in Norfolk County, Virginia.
       
    iv. William. Born before 1680 in Norfolk County, Virginia. Before 1716, he married Elizabeth in Norfolk County, Virginia.
       
  2. v. John (before 1684-1734)
       
    vi. Alexander. Born after 1684 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Alexander died in Norfolk County, Virginia in 1715. Alexander married Margaret, who died in 1715 in Norfolk County, Virginia.
       
    vii. Richard. Born after 1684 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Richard died there after 1734; he was 50.
       
    viii. Daniel. Born in 1684/1700 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Daniel died there about 1753; he was at least 69.
       
    ix. David. He died about 1753.
       
    x. Mary. Born before 1684 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Mary died there about 1736. Mary married Roger Hodges, who died in 1716 in Norfolk County, Virginia.
       
    xi. Dorothy. Dorothy married John Creekmore, son of Edmund Creekmore & Jane Wood. Born before 1658 in Norfolk County, Virginia, John died there in 1711; he was over 53.

Second Generation


2. John Ballentine. Born before 1684 in Norfolk County, Virginia, John died there in 1734; he was at least 50. Read a transcript of his will.
       
  They had the following children:
       
    i. Richard
       
    ii. Susanna
       
    iii. Mary Elizabeth. Mary Elizabeth married a Mr. Creekmore.
       
  3. iv. John (-<1733).

Third Generation


3. John Ballentine. John had already died in Norfolk County, Virginia, leaving his widow Jane, by the time his father died in February of 1733/1734.
       
  They had the following children:
       
  4. i. Frances
       
    ii. John. John died in 1760/1761 in Norfolk County, Virginia.
       
    iii. Bridgit. She married Robert Pinar.

Fourth Generation


4. Frances Ballentine. Born about 1739 in Norfolk County, Virginia. Before 1760 Frances married David Creekmore, son of Edmund Creekmore & Elizabeth, in Norfolk County, Virginia. Born about 1728 in Norfolk County, Virginia, David died after 1787.
       
  They had the following children:
       
    i. David. Born in Norfolk County, Virginia. David died about 1789 in Norfolk County, Virginia. David married Elizabeth.
       
    ii. Charles. Born in Norfolk County, Virginia, Charles died there after 1819. Charles married Mary Ballance1.
       
    iii. Robert E. Creekmore. Born in 1755/1765 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Robert died in Whitley County, Kentucky on 6 Jul 1824; he was 69.2 In 1773, when Robert was 18, he married Elizabeth Batchelor, daughter of Stephen Batchelor, in Norfolk County, Virginia.3,4 Born in 1756, Elizabeth died in Whitley County, Kentucky on 1 Sep 1829; she was 73.2
       
    iv. Ballentine. Born in 1760 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Ballentine died in Whitley County, Kentucky in 1830; he was 70. Before 1798 he married Barsheba Batchelor, daughter of Stephen Batchelor. She was born about 1766.
