3. James GEDDY Jr. was
born in 1731 in Scotland ?. He was living in 1777 in Dinwiddie Co., Virginia.
Initially, he settled on a 400 acre farm. In 1783, he moved back into town
(Petersburg) and re-established his urban silversmithing trade. He was elected
as a member of Petersburg's Common Council in Sep 1784 in Petersburg, Dinwiddie,
Virginia. He died in 1807 in Petersburg, Dinwiddie, Virginia.
(4) The obituary for James Geddy, Jr. reads:
In his intercourse with society the deceased always manifested the frankness
of an ingenuous heart, and a benevolence of disposition which gained him universal
esteem. To his firends hw was indeed a friend; to his family kind and paternal;
to his servants humane and indulgent. Beloved whilst living, his death is justly
and generally lamented.

He was married
to Elizabeth WADDILL about 1755 in Williamsburg, York, Virginia.
Elizabeth WADDILL died before 1783. Is Elizabeth related to William
Waddill? It seems likely, since a son is named William Waddill Geddy; however,
James does have a brother named William (not exactly unusual anyway!), so that
is not conclusive. James GEDDY Jr. and Elizabeth WADDILL had the following children:
+11 i.
Ann "Nancy" GEDDY.
+12 ii.
Mary GEDDY.
+13 iii.
James GEDDY.
+14 iv.
William Waddill GEDDY.
+15 v.
Elizabeth GEDDY.
He was married to Elizabeth about 1782. This is James' second wife and second Elizabeth. Elizabeth was born about 1734. She died in Dec 1799 in Petersburg, Dinwiddie, Virginia. She was probably a widow when she married James Geddy, Jr. since she was 49 years old.
