13 Jan 1749 George Kirkman of Dorchester, MD leaves 1) to son George
my now dwelling plantation with all his land belonging to it, 60 ac. called
the End of all Strife. 2) now dwelling house to wife Elizabeth during her
natural life. 3) to son Roger one shilling sterling full part of his portion.
4) to daughter Comfort Reding one shilling sterling in full part 5) all
movable estate to be equally divided between my four children - Geroge,
jr., James, Rosannah Hackett & Ann Twyford. Son George to be exec.
Wit. Dan Sulivane, James Langrell, Noble Hobbs. Proven 30 Jan 1749.

4, Comfort Reding. Some interpretations of the will believe it to
be, "... to my son, Roger Kirkman, my comfortable riding equipment and
certain sterling ..."]

Nov. 7, 1776. "to daughters Susanna Downs, Elizabeth Matthews, Mary Kirkman,
four pounds each," also considerable other real property.

Will of George Kirkman of Morgan County, Illinois, heirs; two sons,
Thomas and William Kirkman, deceased; daughter Ceely Morrow, husband James;
daughter Rebecca and husband Thomas Wyatt; daughter Sarrah Harris, deceased;
wife Mary Ann Kirkman; son James. 23 Apr 1852. witnesses, Peris Holmes,
James D. Stacy, Mat Stacy. Administrative papers petitioned by James Kirkman
swearing that George Kirkman died at his residence in Morgan County 4 May
1853, leaving widow Mary Ann Kirkman, Rebecca Wyatt, wife of Thomas Wyatt,
Celia Morrow, wife of James Morrow, petitioner James Kirkman, and the children
of Thomas Kirkman, William Kirkman and Sarah Harris, deceased.

Morgan Co, IL Probate Record #1889:
Certificate of Publication (advertisement) May 17 1875, Illinois Sentinel,
Jacksonville, Morgan Co, IL "Estate of James Kirkman, deceased. The undersigned,
having been appointed administratrix of the estate of Jas. Kirkman, late
of Morgan
county and State of Illinois,..." dated 17 day of February, 1875,
signed Rebecca A. Wyatt. Request of Mary J. Smith for appointment
of administrator, deposing that James Kirkman died in Jacksonville the
4th February 1875, that Rebecca A. Wyatt accepted trust as administratrix
until July 16, 1877, when she was discharged leaving estate not fully administered.
Four shares of Jacksonville Alton & St. Louis Railroad Company
worth about $60 was left of the estate. M.J. Smith, as cousin of the deceased,
asks that Talma Smith be appointed as administrator. dated 25 Feb 1880.
Affidavit of Talma Smith that shares had been for many years unsaleable
and worthless, but he found the opportunity to sell them for $15 each to
James B. Beadles.

William Dunlap, William Jackson, and Stephen McClean ordered to appraise
estate of William Kirkman, 30 May 1844. One item not usually found in an
inventory of this time was 18 yds "carpetting" - worth $2.50.

Petition of Eli Cotton in the matter of the last will and testament
of Hannah Heathcote, deceased.
To the Hon. Walter A. Clinch, Judge of the Probate Court of Peoria
County in the State of Illinois:
The petition of the undersigned Eli Cotton respectfully represents
that Hannah Heathcote departed this life in said County on or about the
4th day of August A.D. 1924, and that she was a resident of said Peoria
County at the time of her death. That said deceased left her surviving

Christian, KY Will Bk M p. 145: Will of Thomas Kirkman
"should my beloved wife Betsy survive me....have whole of my estate...real,
personal, or mexed.....she shall in no manner..be molested...person..disturbing
her shall have no part of my estate...she shall have the exclusive management...of
the property..free from interference. Personal estate after the death
of both to be sold on a credit of 12 months, proceeds to be given to the
treasurer of the Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church "I
mean the old established church & not the radicals or reformers." The
plantation where he lived to be kept as a parsonage, occupied without rent
by any minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church appointed by the presiding
elder of the Hopkinsville circuit or Kentucky Conference unless they find
it more beneficial to sell the land, proceeds to go to Missionary Society.
To Josiah L. Kemp, esteemed friend, the book case and all books, press
& table furniture including silver spoon after death of Elizabeth.
Friends Josiah L. Kemp, Joseph B. Crokett & William S. Talbott executors.
Signed 8 Dec 1837.
Codicil gives alon book case and books to Kemp, and as Crokett is leaving
for Missouri, appoint friend James F. Buckner of
Hopkinsville as executor. signed 8 Sep 1840. (copy didn't include provendate)
