Cora A. Seymour, wife of W. L. Seymour, died at her home in Raymond on Manday morning of this week, Sept. 19, at 9 o'clock, aged 41 years, 7 months and 3 days.

The death of Mrs. Seymour was one of the saddest that has occurred in Raymond for many months, she being in the flower of her womanhood and universally loved by all who knew her.

Mrs. Seymour was born and raised at Raymond, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson Parrott, being prominent citizens of Raymond, where they now reside. She was united in marriage on January 29, 1890, and to this union six children were born. A boy and a girl died in infancy and four boys, Robert, Burris, Kenneth and Harold, are left with their father and the aged parents of the deceased to mourn her loss.

The funeral services were held on Thursday morning, September 22, at the M. E. church in Raymond, Rev. Charles W. Ross of Jacksonville, officiating. The remains were interred at Asbury cemetery.

Mrs. Seymour had many friends in Hillsboro, having lived here sixteen years ago when her husband served a term as county clerk of this county. Her death was not a surprise to her many friends here, as she has been very low with cancer for several weeks and no hope was entertained for her recovery Hillsboro, Montgomery County, Illinois, 23 Sep 1910.779

Seymour Funeral On Saturday...

Mrs. Luella Seymour, of Raymond, the widow of the late William L. Seymour, who during his lifetime had been widely known as a Raymond druggist for thirty years, a former postmaster in that city, and a former county clerk of Montgomery county, from 1894 to 1898, died at her home in Raymond, Wednesday night, October 30, at 11:15 o'clock. Mrs. Seymour had suffered from heart trouble for two or three years before her death, and her health was gradually undermined. On October 15, a brother, Sam Scherer, Raymond lumber dealer, was fatally injured in an automobile accident at Clarksdale, near Morrisonville, in an accident in which four other men were hurt, when the car in which Mr. Scherer rode crashed into a threshing combine, at duck, on the hard road. The shock of her brother's death affected Mrs. Seymour greatly. Last Sunday, she had a severe heart seizure, and had been gravely ill, during the week, growing weaker until her death came, Wednesday, shortly before midnight.

Funeral Saturday

The funeral will be held at Raymond, Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, at the Christian church, The Rev. C. A. Garst, Christian pastor at Windsor, will conduct the services, and will be assisted by the Rev. D. A. McLeod, Presbyterian pastor. Burial will be made in Asbury Cemetery, in Raymond.

Luella Scherer, a daughter of the late William Scherer, and of Mrs. Harriet (Hugg) Scherer, of Raymond, was born on September 19, 1870, on a farm in Butler Grove township, and was reared there and educated in the rural school near her home. Whe was 65 years, 1 month and 11 days old, when she died. Her father died when she was a young girl, and her mother continued to live on the farm, for many years, moving to Raymond more than thirty years ago. On May 7, 1914, at Hillsboro, she was married to William L. Seymour, of Raymond. She was the second wife of Mr. Seymour, and after her marriage was a kind, affectionate mother to the four Seymour "boys", all of whom are now well-known and popular young Hillsboro business men. They had been left motherless on the death of their mother, in 1910, and they always showed great affection and courtesy toward their stepmother, and regarded her as their second mother.

Mrs. Seymour was a member of the Christian church at Raymond, of the Eastern Star, and of the Rebekah lodge, and was active and faithful in all her church and lodge affiliations, and in everything of interest to her community. She was a fine type of woman and was highly regarded by all who knew her.

Mrs. Seymour's husband, William L. Seymour, died of typhoid fever, on August 26, 1926. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. "Hattie" Scherer who made her home in Raymond with her daughter, and who is now 87 years old; by her brother, Dr. William H. Scherer, of Raymond; a sister, Carrie, the wife of Jerry McNeal of Nokomis, and by her four stepsons, Robert H., Kenneth L., William Burress and Harold R. Seymour, Hillsboro druggists. She leaves also several stepgrandchildren, all of Hillsboro. Besides the death of her brother, Sam Scherer, two weeks ago, another brother Charles Scherer, Raymond banker, has died during the years, his death having occurred last April Hillsboro, Montgomery County, Illinois, 31 Oct 1935.780 She was buried on 2 Nov 1935 in Asbury Cemetery, Raymond, Montgomery County, Illinois, . The funeral was held at the Christian church in Raymond at 2 o'clock in the afternoot, the Rev. C. a. Garst, Christian pastor at Windsor conducting, assisted by the Rev. D. A.
