Info is from Iva Flohr.spouse: Strzyzewski, Lillian (1901 - 1987)He changed his name to Jack L DUNN.
Notes from Iva: She is not sure where she was born. She believes she was born on the farm near Disko. She spent the first 9 years of her life on a farm one mile from Disko. Her family moved from Disko to Akron, Fulton County when she was in the third grade. (1920+/-) She graduated from Akron H.S. in June 1929. She moved to her Uncle John YARIAN's house in Servia in 1929 and took a job at the Milk Plant in Servia. John, her Uncle, was Plant Manager at the time. She made $70.00 per month. (Vernon took over as manager when John died) She met Roy at the General Store where he worked. She + John stopped in there one day and she asked John who that was at the store. (Roy) Shortly after moving to Servia she moved out and rented a room in a house in Servia on Main St just south of the General Store. She paid $5.00 per week for room, meals and laundry. She walked to work every day and would stop and talk with Roy. Her and Roy double dated with some friends on June 29,1930. She had to sit on Roy's lap because the car they when in was a coupe and did not have a back seat. She said she asked Roy if she was heavy? He said a little bit. (She weighed 180 lbs at the time) They dated for 3 years before they married. She worked at the Milk Plant until 1936. She was a cook at North Manchester schools for several years.spouse: Krichbaum, Leroy "Roy" Moses (1909 - )

ARRIVAL: Leonard Floor who arrived in Philadelphia on the Ship Friendship in 1729 Leonard was naturalized in Pennsylvania on Sept. 8, 1765spouse: , Anna Barbara (*1696 - )__________________________________________________________________________ ____________ E-mail from Kathy Stickney Subject: Re: Flohrs Date: 11/26/98 21:22 Hi Mike! Received your email and had a few responses plus some information to share. This might be a bit long. Hope it will not be boring. 1. You commented on tracing backwards with the Flohrs. I think several of us are doing that. As of now, I think the parents of Valentine Flohr were Leonard and Anna Barbara Flohr. Leonard is the Leonard Floor who arrived in Philadelphia on the Ship Friendship in 1729. There is no way of tracing women and children on that ship (at least on this side of the Atlantic) so we can only guess that Valentine was on the ship with Leonard. I am guessing now that Anna Barbara was too. Lois Lace is investigating the possibility that Leonard was a young father and traveled to this country with Valentine (perhaps the mother died in Germany) and married Anna Barbara after arriving in this country. I have been collecting information on Leonard and Anna Barbara in various places. The Trinity Lutheran Church Records, volume 1 (1730-1767) mentions them on pages 326, 328, 336, 354, and 430. The York County, Pennsylvania, Church Records of the 18th Century, volume 2, mentions then on page 66. Leonard was naturalized in Pennsylvania on Sept. 8, 1765. We have found no record of the death of either Leonard or Anna Barbara. 2. Lois has done extensive research into the other two people on the Ship Friendship who have similar names: Conrad Florans and Michael Floris. She has established that they were father and son through land deed records and such. Through a patent, she has traced the wife and children of Conrad. She has also traced a wife and the children of Michael. Michael was in Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County. Conrad died in Richland Township, Bucks County. I mention this because one Flohr researcher thinks Conrad was the father of Leonard as well as Michael. Through detailed research, Lois has ruled out that possibility. 3. Mary had asked if Terri or I had any proof on the wife of Leonard Flohr being Anna Margaret Schaeffer instead of Schmidt. My initial answer is no. The church records I had consulted list Margaret (or the German spelling of that). Looking at the material from Lois Lace, she lists the wife of Leonard as Anna Margaretha Schaeffer and her parents as George Friederich and Maria Margaretta Schaeffer. She did note that Leonard signed a bond letter of Frederich Schaeffer's in 1776. If you know German naming customs, you know that one boy is named after the father, one after the father's father, and one after the mother's father. Looking at the first three children of Leonard and Margaret, you see: Leonard, Frederick, and Valentine. 4. Now for Maria Mary Rummel. I had her listed as I. Peters until I saw Mary May's listing on her database. I then changed it to Mary Rummel. Lois had her as Mary for awhile then added Rummel. There is another Flohr researcher by the name of Steve Gilland. Both Terri and I have written to him. I do not agree with all his findings but must quickly add that I am new at this and he has been at it for some time. Thus who am I to question him!!! Anyway, he is exploring the possibility of Mary being Miller too. Thought it was interesting that you also mentioned that possibility. Lois listed that Mary's death was reported by I. Rummel. I don't know who that is but find it interesting. 5. I have a woman in Mahoning County, Ohio who is copying some land deed records and probate record for me. I am going to ask her for the following items (if at all possible) too: death certificate for Daniel Flohr, Jr. (then we could see who is listed as his mother), death certificate for Mary Flohr (then we could see her full name), and land deed record of land sold to Daniel Jr. by Daniel Sr. and Mary (see her name as listed though may just be Mary). Perhaps none of these are available but if at least one of the death certificates is, we might have some help. 6. I have a wild suggestion: We know Daniel Flohr's wife was named Mary. When it is listed as Maria that is just Latin for Mary. What if we drop Maria Mary which is just Mary Mary and consider the possibility that her name was I. Mary Peters or Mary I. Peters? 7. My cousin had two interesting findings. One was that an Obediah Peters was listed with the Flohrs in the letter for the administration of the will of Daniel Flohr. We also have a copy of an obituary for Susan Peter, widow of David Peter and daughter of Jacob and Susannah Rummel, that was in our great-grandmother's Bible. Our great-grandmother was Anna Catharine Flohr Whitmyer, daughter of Daniel Flohr, Jr. We cannot determine if Susan was a friend of Catharine's or a family member. Of course her name was Peter, not Peters but the "s" could have been dropped. At least there is another possible connection of Peters with Flohrs. 8. The Rummel Rooters went round and round on Mary Rummel earlier this year. No one had any information on her parents. That is interesting and makes one really want to question her last name. Why is she such a mystery? They were married in PA. There must be church records that would record the marriage. I will be interested to learn what Velma has to say. I also have not contacted Steve lately to see where his research on the Miller possibility has taken him. I don't know if this is just ramblings or if it helps some. With so many of us working on Mary, hopefully we will come up with answers soon. Kathy

I do not know if you received my email to Rummel Rooters earlier this week. In case you did not, I also descend from Daniel Flohr, Sr. through his son Daniel Flohr, Jr. I have been researching the Flohrs for a year now and have learned a lot but have much more to learn. I had a few responses to questions you asked. Hope this is the correct Email address for you. I copied it off Mary May's Email of the 24th. I do hope those of us researching the Flohrs can form a discussion group as Mary has suggested. It would prove most helpful.spouse: Zimmerman, Maria Elizabeth (*1723 - )Let me list the first two generations as I have them and note sourced information when I have it:
Valentine Flohr: born Germany - died 1804 York County, PA married Maria Elizabeth Zimmerman, daughter of George Zimmerman + Catharine Seidel [marriage sourced in South Central PA Genealogical Society, Special Publication #41, Page 28.] children: Leonard Flohr Johann Georg Flohr b. 13 Dec 1748 Anna Barbara Flohr b. 26 Sept. 1750 Susan Elizabeth Flohr b. 27 Apr 1752 John George Flohr b. Leonard Flohr: died 1821 - Franklin Township (Adams County), PA married Anna Margaret Schaeffer, daughter of Frederick and Maria Margaretta Schaeffer children: Daniel Flohr b. 2 Apr 1790 - d. 17 Mar 1850 Leonard FLohr b. 18 Sept 1773 - d. 26 June 1840 Frederick Flohr Valentine FLohr b. 22 Apr 1777 - d. 21 Jly 1835 Sarah Flohr Joseph Flohr b. 15 Mar 1785 - d. 8 Sept 1811 Samuel Flohr b. 16 Apr 1786 David Flohr d. 28 Apr 1823 Jacob Flohr will probated: 10 Jan 1821 [I have a copy] Anna Margaret buried Flohr's Lutheran Cemetery, McKnightstown, PA
As you can see, some of our information is a bit different. I rely heavily on a woman named Lois Lace who is an incredible Flohr researcher. She spent over 6 weeks this year alone, in PA researching Flohrs. The facts she has gathered in all her research would blow you away. I read what she sends me and can hardly take it all in. She is light years ahead of me in her research. She has been researching Maria Mary Rummel like crazy trying to determine her parents. If anyone can find that family, she can!
I wanted to comment on your question about the parents of Levi Flohr because you are not the only one confused about it. One tool you may want to purchase if you do not already have it is: Springfield Township Cemetery and Death Records, Mahoning County, Ohio. It is published by the Mahoning County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society. Flohrs, Mays, and Rummels are all in it. On page 71 it lists Mary Flohr, wife of Daniel d 18 Sept 1871. On page 113 it lists Maria Flore d 18 Sept 1871.
Daniel Flohr died without a will. The probate record is 60+ pages long. I had some of it copied. It lists Mary Floor as widow of D. Floor, deceased so we know she was his wife when he died. Levi Floor is listed as a minor and the youngest child of Daniel Floor. Although Mary is not listed as the mother of Levi, it is a logical conclusion to assume she is.
Look at the 1850 Census one more time. I have a xerox of it and am reading from it. The census was taken in September so Daniel Sr. was already dead (died in March). Mary (age 63) and Levi (age 20) are living with Jesse Floor (family 647). Evidently after Daniel Sr.'s death Jesse took in his mother and younger brother. That also makes me assume Mary is the mother of Levi. Daniel Floor, Jr. is listed as family 648 living with his wife Sophia and children.
Another Flohr researcher by the name of June Floor Hileman (Denver, IN) also descends from Levi Flohr, son of Daniel Sr. She states that Levi's death certificate lists Daniel Sr. and I. Peters as his parents. June knows that the tombstone reads Mary so she is confused too. Before you ask how to get in touch with June, I only have this information second hand through my cousin who is also researching the Flohrs.
I do not know how to explain the death certificate but the evidence seems to be fairly strong that Mary was the wife of Daniel Sr. and mother of Levi. I don't know if this helps you any.
Let me know if I can help in any other way. Let's do get a Flohr discussion group going. Kathy
