** The ancestry of the La Tonnelier family has not yet been proven.  The information was obtained through microfilm in Salt Lake City, Utah. Further research is in progress however. It has been said that Michael was a Huguenot and fled France(along with his family) to Germany to prevent percussion and there changed the name to Kieffer/Kuffer, which in French means Kettle. I believe he was a kettle maker or worked with copper.
