The Schwarts/Swartz Family

The Schwartz/Swartz/Swartzwelder Family

NOTE March 2006: a soundex search in 1850, finds three men, Joseph, Robert and Peter all close enough in age to be brothers and all living fairly close to each other in Wheatfield, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. The families have the correct names and dates for Joseph's family. However, Joseph and Robert go by the names Swartzwalder and Swartzwelder, while Peter uses the name Swartz. In 1860, Joseph and Robert live in the same area, but both use the name Swartz and there is also a man named George S. Swartz, who is one year older than Joseph, living in Burrell, Indiana County. Lastly, there is a John living in Wheatfield, but at the age of 20, his is likely another generation. We are assuming this is the correct family, with a name change, and are now trying to learn more about this line.
