Unknowns with Children
UPDATE 1/24/2001 - The picture on the left has been identified as "Grandmother Sears" and the baby is Hilda Howard. Jim L. Spencer gave the following information on "Grandmother Sears" and baby Hilda.
Susan Udorah Sears (29 June 1867 - ???) was married to William Edward Spencer (22 June 1848 - 30 Aug. 1926) on 25 Apr 1886. They had 14 children, including Nancy "Nannie" Jane (19 June 1889 - 24 Dec. 1984). Nancy married John Edward Howard (3 Aug. 1877 - 24 Feb. 1967) on 6 July 1910. They had two children, Hilda Mae and Napoleon "Poley" Edward. Hilda Mae Howard, who is apparently the child in the picture, married George Lafayette Cox, Jr. The picture appears to have been taken circa 1914-15. My information was that Mrs. Hilda (Howard) Cox was still alive as of a few years ago.
UPDATE 9/14/2001 - The picture on the right has been identified by Meredith Hudson Mooney Nicholson of Statesville, N.C. She offers the following information:
This picture was taken in December 1950. The couple is Capt. James Edward Clark (08/05/1880 � 09/25/1956) and his wife Charity Anne Lewis Clark (01/13/1881 � 03/29/1967). The 3 children are their great-grandchildren. They are from left: Frank Spruill (age 6 to 9 months in photo, he was killed in an auto accident in September 1968 or 1969); center: his sister Brenda Spruill (she is approx. 20 months old in the photo, she is still alive but I don�t know her married name); right: Meredith Hudson Mooney age 13 months.)
These two pictures were taken from the Hyde Co. History book published in 1976.
