SOLOMON HENDRICKS

Item - I give and bequeath the Plantation whereon
I now dwell, etc. to my daughter Mary HENDRICKS, only my will is that my
true and loving wife *Mary
HENDRICKS have use and dwell thereon during the term of her natural life…
Item - I give and bequeath my Negro man called JACOB to my daughter Mary
HENDRICKS, only my will is that my true and loving wife Mary HENDRICKS
have the labour of my afsd Negro Man during her widowhood…
Item - I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Mary HENDRICKS one bay mare
branded with the letter S on the buttock…, also one feather bed and furniture
her choice of all my beds…
Item - I give to my daughter Mary HENDRICKS one feather bed and furniture
the next choice after her Mother…
Item - I give to my daughter Sarah HENDRICKS one half of my Land on the
Southwest Side of Little River that I bought of John ROBINSON whereon **Elizabeth
HENDRICKS now dwells it being the lower part of sd. Land which is to be
divided by a line of marked trees beginning at the River thence back to
the head of sd. land…
Item - I give to my daughter Sarah HENDRICKS all the hogs found in my stock
marked with a Cross & Slit and keel (in the right ear) & the left
Slit whole with and upper keel… Item - I give to my daughter Sarah HENDRICKS
one feather bed and furniture to have her choice after my daughter Mary…
Item - I give to my daughter Frances HENDRICKS the remainder part or onne
half of my afsd. Land that I bought of John ROBINSON, She to have the upper
part thereof joining to Jeremiah HENDRICKS…
Item - I give and bequeath one feather bed and furniture to my daughter
Frances HENDRICKS, also a Writing Desk and the largest Pewter Dish to be
found in the house, all the hogs and neat Cattle to be found in my stock
marked with {- torn -} slit and upper keel in the right ear and the {-
torn -}…
Item - I give and bequeath all the neat Cattle and hoggs to be found in
my stock marked with a cross and slit and upper keel in the right ear and
the left slit with two upper bits taken out to my daughter Mary HENDRICKS…
Item - I give all the remainder part of my horse & kine to my three
daughters, viz. Sarah, Frances and Mary HENDRICKS…
Item - I give and bequeath unto my brother Jeremiah HENDRICKS one Suit
of Apparel for all parts of his body and my loose coat…
Item - I give remainder part of my whole Estate real & personal with
what Cash I leave behind to be Equally divided between my Loving Wife and
daughters, Viz. My wife Mary HENDRICKS and three daughters Sarah, Frances
and Mary HENDRICKS…
I appoint, etc., my trusty Brother Jeremiah HENDRICKS Executor and my loving
wife Mary HENDRICKS and my well beloved daughter Sarah HENDRICKS, Executors…
In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand this Eighteenth Day of April,
1744… Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Pronounced and Declared by the said Solomon
HENDRICKS as his last Will and Testament in presence of us the Subscribers

Thomas Overman
James Overman
North Carolina } Perq. County } At a Court held for the said County at the Courthouse on Phelps Point on the third Monday in October Anno Dom 1744 ----- Present His Majesty’s Justices. Thomas Overman one of the subscribing witnesses to the within will appeared in Open Court & made affirmation the he was present and saw Solomon Hendricks sign His last will & testament.

* Maiden
name of Mary Hendricks, wife of Solomon Hendricks, is unknown. Any help
will be greatly appreciated.
** Elizabeth
Hendricks was most probably the widow and 2nd wife of Solomon's father,
Thomas Hendricks (Sr.) (c.l680-c.1739) who had also lived on Solomon's
land until his death.
