[NI6650] Cora Alice Stephens, 85, Shelbyville, a former Waldron resident, died at 4:40 a.m. today. She had been in failing health for three years. Mrs. Stephens was a member of the 20-year club at KCL, where she had been employed before her retirement
in 1964. She was a member of the Waldron Baptist Church, the Waldron Baptist Missionary society, and the Waldron Community Club. A daughter of James Monroe and Laura (Young) Bastin, She was born Feb. 28, 1898, in Lincoln County, KY. She was
married April 12, 1919 to Conley B. Stephens, who died Nov. 27, 1977. Surviving are four children, Mary J. Stephens, Shelbyville, Lloyd B. Stephens, West Melbourne, Fla., Marie Kriner, Indianapolis, and Grace Lowe, Hamilton, Ohio. nine grand
children, seven great grand children; and a brother, McKinley Bastin, Indianapolis. Two brothers and four sisters preceded in death. Services will be at 10:30a.m. Monday at the Carmony Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Horner Officiating.
Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends May call from 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. sunday at the funeral home.



(Found in Shelbyville, IN news 1969) Mr. and Mrs Conley B. Stephens of Waldron host an open house Sunday April 13, ind celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. The affair will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Waldron
Baptist church. The couple was married April 12, 1919, in

Louisville, KY. Mr. Stephens is a retired famer and the State of IN employee. Mrs. Stephens is the Former Cora Bastin. They are members of the Waldron Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Stephens are the parents of four children, Mrs. William
R. (Mary) Brown, Shelbyville, Lloyd B. Stephens of Evansville; Mrs. E.C. (Marie) Kriner of Indianapolis, and Mrs William (Grace) Lowe of hamilton, Ohio. They have nine grand children. The couple request that gifts be omitted. There is a
picture with the article.

[NI6651] (Found in the Indianapolis News paper 24 July 1967) Mr. and Mrs. McKinley Bastin observed their 69th wedding anniversary July 24. Mr. Bastin and the former Verdie Flanery were married July 24, 1918 in Stanford, KY. He was a carpenter and also
worked for the former New York Central Railroad for 25 years. They are members of South Keystone Church of the Nazarene, where he has been a Sunday School teacher for more than 50 years. They have four children, Dorothy Basey, Bill Bastin,
Edith Franklin, and Katie James; 13 grandchildren and 28 great grand children. Their is also a picture with the article.

[NI6652] (Shelbyville News 10 Aug 1961) James E. Bastin, 59, resident of this city for 16 years and a photographer, died at Major Hospital at 5:00 a.m. today. He had been ill for the past year and in critical condition for two weeks. An autopsy was
scheduled for this afternoon to determine the exact cause of death. Mr. Bastin, whose home was 912 E. Jackson st. was born in Stanford, KY. on January 13, 1902. His parents were James and Laura Bastin. He first was married to Myrtle Gabbert
whose death occurred in 1930. Five Children survive, James e. Bastin Jr. of R.R. 4; Dale E. Bastin, St. Paul; Carl Kenneth Bastin of Indianapolis, Mrs. Harold Miller, Glenwood, and Mrs. Paul Wildridge, Connersville, IN. On June 18, 1931,
he was married to Dora Griffith who survives. also surviving are 19 grand children, one great grand child and the following brothers and sisters; Samuel Bastin, Manilla; Mckinley Bastin, Indianapolis, Mrs. Rosa E. Brandenburg, Stanford, KY.,
Mrs. Maggie B. Daniels, Cincinnati; Mrs Cora Stephens, Waldron, and Mrs. Ida Pearl McGuffey of Danville, KY., Mr Bastin was a member of the Stanford Christian Church. His funeral will be held at the Murphy Mortuary saturday at 2:00 p.m. with
the rev. James Thorpe in charge. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 2:30 p.m. friday.

I regret to report the passing of a cousin to many on our list. Ralph
Eugene Brandenburg died on Christmas Eve in Fairfield, OH. His BASTIN
ancestry has been traced as follows:

(Ralph Brandenburg was a first cousin to Dale Edward Bastin, Cousin Kathy.
He was a fifth cousin once removed to me.)

The following obituary appeared in the Danville (KY) Advocate-Messenger for
December 27, 1999:

" Ralph E. Brandenburg

WAYNESBURG -- Ralph Eugene Brandenburg, 73, of Wyoming, Ohio, died Friday
[Dec 24, 1999] in Fairfield, Ohio.

Born March, 30, 1926, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Stanley
and Rosa Bastin Brandenburg. He was a self-employed television repairman. He
was a member of Eubank Baptist Church and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Vida Estes Brandenburg; a daughter, Betty Lou
Loman of Hamilton, Ohio; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Roy Brandenburg.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by the
Rev. Noel Dodson. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery with military
rites will be by Caswell Saufley Post 18, American Legion.

Visitation is 10 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday. "

[NI6658] Rites Set for Mrs. Bastin: Services will be Friday at 2:00p.m. at Carmony Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IN, for Mrs. Ella E. Bastin, 76, R.R. 6, Shelbyville, IN, who died Tuesday at Decatur County Hospital, Greensburg, She had been ill
since January 12 and hospitalized since Friday. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Ronald Robinson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:00 p.m. Thursday. A resident of the Blue Ridge community for 40
years, Mrs. Bastin was a member of the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. She was born in Shelby County July 14, 1896, the daughter of Noah and Anna (Deal) Perry. On Aug. 1, 1914, she was married to Samuel Bastin, who died Dec., 27, 1965. Surviving
are two sons and a daughter, Vernon F. Bastin and William R. Bastin, R. R. 1, and Mrs. Stella Howell, R. R. 6, Shelbyville; none grandchildren, eight great grand children; and a borther and two sisters,

Vern Z. Perry, and Mrs. Roscoe (Leona) Fix, Knightstown; and Mrs. Hazel McKenney, Shelbyville. Three sons and six brothers and sisters preceded in death. Shelbyville News 6 March 1973
