Edna Ruth Puckett Hollingsworth

Edna Ruth Puckett Hollingsworth

by Dr. Harold Graham

Died at her home in the Riser community of Newton County, Mississippi,
on October 26, 1998, Edna Ruth Puckett Hollingsworth. Ruth was a homemaker
and my dear aunt. She had suffered from bone cancer for the past two years.
Ruth was always the one to bring order to chaos and to view matters with
an uncommon element of common sense. I shared more than one humorous
moment with her, for she was as quick to laugh as she was quick to forgive.

In our last conversation in August we shared a moment of warmth and
feeling, understanding that this was the last time we would meet on this
earth.

Ruth, mother of six children, is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Elaine
Graham of Decatur, Mississippi, Mrs. Sarah Hollingsworth of the Macedonia
community, and Mrs. Janette Haralson of Conehatta; also by five children:
Marsha Ruth Hollingsworth Hedrick of Decatur, Raymond Hollingsworth of
the Riser community, Kenneth Hollingsworth of Philadelphia, Mississippi,
Lee Ann Scoggin of Decatur, and Betty Joyce Purvis of Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Hollingsworth, and by
a son, Clarence Wayne Hollingsworth.

Funeral services will be held at Pine Bluff Baptist Church, Riser
community, on October 28, 1998, with burial in the church cemetery.
