In this list are all four "regular" spellings of our surname which, if
you didn't know it, has three separate codings in the "Soundex" system,
being H-452 (Hollingsworth, Hollingworth); H-453 (Hollandsworth etc.);
and H-456 (Hollinworth).
End of Death Index, thanks to Correspondent Harold Graham of Belle
Chasse, Louisiana. Other sections of the material he sent will be ad-
ded as space permits.
Farmer, was born very near where he now lives Aug. 28, 1823, and is
one of 11 children of Bernard and Nancy A. (McKeigh) Hollingsworth,
natives of South Carolina and Kentucky, respectively. William P. lived
with his parents until 25 years of age, and was reared on the home
farm. He secured a good common, school education. On June 6, 1850, he
led to the hymeneal altar Miss Louisa Stephenson, a native of Indiana
and daughter of Samuel Stephenson. Eipht children were born to them,
named Ferdinand, Jeannette and Eliza are deceased, Amanda, Lavina,
Alexander, and two who died in infancy. Mr Hollingsworth was not in
the late war, but did service in the Home Guards. After his marriage
Mr. Hollingsworth's father presented him with fifty acres of land,
which he has increased to 103 acres, all under cultivation. He is a
Republican in politics, and cast his first vote for (William Henry)
Harrison. He and family are members of the Christian Church, and he
is a good citizen and farmer. (From History of Knox & Daviess Coun-
ties, Indiana Illustrated (1886), The Goodspeed Publishing Co., Chi-
cago, Widner Township biographies. We note that General Harrison was
elected in 1840 and died a month after his inaugural speech, in 1841.
If William P. Hollingsworth "cast his first vote" for Harrison, his
year of birth - 1823 - is incorrect, or he fudged his age and voted
as a 17-year-old. Ah --- such patriotism.)
See you in September, 1991!
