(B) Alfred Hollingsworth, Glendale, California, 1926.
Alfred Hoilingswortn, 60, Shakespearean actor, died June 20, 1926 at
Windsor Hospital, Glendale, Calif., from cancer of the stomach. He had
been removed to the hospital only two days previous to his death. For
30 years Mr. Hollingsworth was well known on both the legitimate stage
and in motion pictures. As an actor of Shakespearean and romantic
parts, his fame was far-reaching. His reputation grew under the dir-
ection of some of the stage's greatest managers. Among these were
Richard Mansfield, David Belasco, E.H. Sothern, Robert Mantell and
Daniel Frohman. During the past 10 years he took parts principally in
motion pictures. He is survived by his father, a resident of Lewis-
town (sic: Lewiston), Idaho, and by his former wife, Countess Nina
Carrara from whom he was divorced in 1924. (The Billboard, July 3,
1926, p. 90, col. 2 found by your editor. A 1924 Players' Directory
a copy of which we have here, list only two of our surname: Alfred
and Harry, editor's father. We found several Hollingsworths in the
1900 Soundex Index for Idaho, but not this particular Alfred (two
other Alfreds are listed) unless the age given above is incorrect by
quite a few years. Hollingsworth got strong ratings for his portray-
al of a Mexican bandit in the William S. Hart silent Hell's Hinges
(1916) for Triangle Pictures.)
