Will of Jesse Newberry

Will of Jesse Newberry, Bladen County, North Carolina, dated 14 Apr
1786, an "old unrecorded will" from Cumberland County records. Sons
John Newberry, Isaac Newberry, and James and Benjamin Newberry, both
under 19 years, grandson John Liget; "my father John Newberry;" daugh-
ter B---- (illegible) Carver; Deborah Rieves (?); Mary Liget, deceas-
ed, granddaughter Mary Leget; on 2 Jan 1787 son James Newberry will be
seven (years old). "Brothers and sisters" of his children Isaac &
John are mentioned. Witnesses: Robert Edwards, Mary Screven, Tobias
(X) Ingram.
NOTE:	Jesse Newberry's family was tied in some way to the Hollings-
worths of that region. James Hollingsworth of Bibb County, Georgia,
an unplaced person thus far, was married to Elizabeth Newberry, who
was born in North Carolina. It is our current contention that her hus-
band was also, and was somehow a close kinsman to Rev. Stephen Holl-
ingsworth. The above Robert Edwards was, we believe, the son of that
name, to Katherine (Tyrler) Hollingsworth Edwards, and a half-brother
to Rev Hollingsworth. Any comment?

More Hollingsworth Passengers to New York

In 25 years, the editor has read almost all of the rolls of film
for New York Passenger arrivals, 1820-1861, being rolls 1 to 215 out
of the 675 rolls in the set which ends in 1897. By the time this is-
sue is mailed out, it will be complete for that period. The WPA in-
dex on M-261 only goes from 1820 through 1846. Though sold by the
National Archives as having "some omissions," I have found thousands!
