23 August 1982 5890 S.W. 102nd St Dear Harry: Miami, Fla 33156 The Vicar at Quarndon, Derbyshire, found a JOHN HOLLINGSWORTH married a HANNAH MARLOW 2 Dec 1805 plus two children, born and died but no Henry. No other Hollingsworth was mentioned in his parish in the 19th century. Neither 1841 nor 1851 census for Hayfield or Quarndon show any Hollingsworths listed but the 1851 Quarndon Census does show (sic) John Hollingsworth, widower, 68, Farmer's laborer, born Quarndon. (Source: Derbyshire County Council.) His will showed no relatives. I feel quite certain the parents' names are correct, for (Henry) named nis first 2 children JOHN HENRY and HANNAH AMELIA. I agree birth dates could be wrong, but the same age is carried correctly on every census and death certificate I have. Sincerely, Harriet Hollingsworth Kendrick (If any reader knows anything about Henry Hollingsworth, son of John and Hannah, and if above marriage is theirs, write Mrs. K. and let HR know about it too.)
(1) Mrs. Betty L. (Cook) Berndt, 8048 Johnson Pt. Road N.E., Qlympia, Washington 98506, has recently connected her line to that of Valentine Hollingsworth, Sr. If she has not, when she receives this issue she will have more confirmation. (2) Mrs. Eileen H. Gray of Florence, Oregon, a second cousin of Inez (Venn) McKie above and a 2nd cousin twice removed, of Betty Berndt in Item 1, in HR Mar 1982 p. 16 showed her pedigree. Mary Jane Morrill was dau of Amos and Mary (Church) Morrill, an old New England family from Salisbury, Essex Co., Mass. in which county your harried editor is now working, but in Salem nearby. Mrs. Gray's lineage from Elias Pierce Hollingsworth backwards is the same as Mrs. Berndt's. More of Mrs. Gray's submissions soon. A-dew.
