THE HOLLINGSWORTH REGISTER, VOLUME I., NUMBER 3. |
OCTOBER, 1965 |
In the fire of June, 1922, which destroyed the great record room at Four Courts, Dublin, Ireland, during the Irish Civil War ali the original Hearth Money Rolls for all Ireland were destroyed. Luckily copies had been made for private use, of several of the years, including County Armagh, 1664. Since many of the names found in the Quaker records also are found in this roll, we present the list for the two parishes of Shankill and Seagoe, in the north eastern part of Co. Armagh. We omit the tax figures and the hearth figures, to save space. However, unless otherwise shown, the tax of 2 shillings for 1 hearth is meant. |
