Snow Ice Cream - Unfortunately, with environmental hazzards such as acid rain, it is recommended that you do not consume this if you make it.

3 cups fresh white snow
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
dash of salt

Combine milk, sugar, vanilla and salt.  Pour quickly over snow and stir to mix.  Put in milk bucket and sit back outside till frozen to sherbert consistency.

This is a recipe that Mary Elizabeth North Hoppes used to make for her children in the late 1800's and early 1900's - not recommended today.

Sculpting Dough

1 cup table salt
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup water

Blend salt and flour in a bowl and gradually add water.  Kneed dough 7 to 10 minutes until firm.  Make your sculptures and let air dry (takes approximately 72 hours) before painting with an acrylic paint.  Great for making snowmen!

Aunt Helen's Sculpting Dough 2

1 cup table salt
1/2 cup corn starch
3/4 cup cold water

Mix together in a double boiler over medium heat.   Stir constantly until dough sticks to spoon and remove from heat.  Pour dough onto waxed paper or foil to cool.  Once cool enough to touch, knead for three minutes.  Form into desired shapes and let air dry 48 hours before painting.
