Into youth sports (soccer, softball, baseball), genealogy and
bicycling. When not doing these, I'm working or sleeping ... tho' some
say I do both at once. HALLER LINE: Heinrich Haller - born 1689 ... died 1761 in PA (Gilreath, generation 1). Briefly, my Hollar ties are with Catharine HALLER (b. abt 1742 Lancaster Co PA, d. before 1821 Highland Co OH) and her niece Barbara (MOYER) FANSLER, who both married Jacob SURBER (b. abt 1744 in Germantown PA, d. 23 Aug 1839 Highland Co OH). Barbara MOYER was the "base-born" daughter of Barbara HALLER, sister to Catharine. Jacob married first Catharine on 10 Apr 1768 in Frederick Co VA. Catharine was the daughter of Petter HALLER (b. 7 Aug 1715 Matstall, Alsace, d. 1799 VA) and his wife (Anna?) Dorothea. Petter was the son of Heinrich HALLER and Anna Catharina CARLE, who all arrived in Philadelphia 17 Aug 1733 aboard the ship Samuel. |

My maiden name was Holler. My father, Charles Gilbert Holler,
was from Charlotte and Raleigh N.C. He had four brothers, one of whom
was named Richard. My dad moved to Jackson MS in the thirties. The
HOLLER name is quite unusual around here. I am researching descendents of Zachariah Holler. He departed from Rotterdam, Holland on the Ship "The Loyal Judith" which arrived in Philadelphia PA 3 Sep 1742. His son Johnannes Holler was b. 1763 in Bucks County PA. Next in line, Andrew Holler Sr., and Andrew Holler Jr., who died in Catawba County NC. Andrew's son Gilbert, my greatgrandfather, was born in 1842 in Conover NC. |

I have embarked on an overwhelming
task. I know very little about my great grandfather, Daniel Haller. I do
know that he was one of several cousins who came to the Oregon and
Washington Territory. I know that he had several kids when he married my
great grandmother, Adeline Menard. They had 18 kids together. That makes
for a very large family! I know that Adeline was born in 1905 and they were married when she was either 14 or 15, and that he was in his later thirties. My grandpa won't talk about his father, but I would like to know a little more about the Haller geneology. I know several generations back for Adeline Menard. Her mother was full blooded Indian and her father was a Frenchman who worked for the Hudson Bay Trading Company. |

I am a naval architect currently working for the University
of New Orleans. I was born in Wheeling WV in 1971 and moved in 1980 to
Cape Coral FL. After attending UF for 3 years I transferred to UNO where
I am currently working on a masters. Descendant of Johan Peter Haller (abt. 1734 - 1802) and Christina Magdalena? (1734-1800) I believe Peter, a farmer and Lutheran, came to the US on the ship Duke of Wirtemberg in 1752, still trying to confirm this. Earliest records have him in Dover Township, near York, PA in 1762 as a Warantee having 113 acres. Later he moved his family to MIddletown, MD, near Frederick, where he owned a plantation and later died. Looking for where in Germany he came from, and where he was from 1752-1762 if he did arrive on the Duke of Wirtemberg. My line of descent: A Johan Peter Haller Sr. (abt. 1735-1802) m. Christina Magdalena ? (b. abt 1734 d. 11 March 1800) A-6 Johan Peter Haller Jr. (b. 26 Mar 1771 d. ? ) Dover Township, York Co., PA A-6-6 Joseph Haller (b. 20 Nov 1804 Middletown, Frederick, MD d. 15 Jan 1862 Wheeling, Ohio Co. Hollar and each of his children being born there or near there, they moved to Crawfordsville, Indiana where John S. Died, a will exists and I have a copy of it, Daniel was in Montgomery, Miami, Howard Counties Indiana during much of his adult life, I do not know where he is buried or been able to definately confirm his death date. Daniel Marion lived in Crawfordsville for a while, settled in Missouri for a short time, to Montana, Idaho, and Washington State where he died near Spokane. Ira was born in Crawfordsville too and moved around the country settling in Missouri, Oklahoma, Washington and Virginia. He died in Washington DC. Claude was born in Harrison County, Missouri, fought in both World Wars therefore he was stationed throughout the nation but spent much of his childhood in Missouri and Washington States, Nebraska for a few of his teenage years before living in Oregon and California where his children were born. Moving east he lived in Pennsylvania and died in Virginia. My father while born in California, has spent nearly all of his life in Virginia. |

Also: In the 1830 Monroe County TN Census Index, I found Zecheriah Holler with 5 sons and 2 daughters and wife. In Estate Records of Roane County TN Book D, pg. 176, June 1845 Term of Court, I found where Zachariah Holler successfully sued the estate of Richard White and collected $19.40. In the North Carolina Certificates of Survey, I found where Zachariah Holler had received 55 1/2 acres of land in Carter County, Sixth District on the water of Roans Creek which was in January 1814, and then on 11 November 1831, where Zachariah Holler sold 100 acres of land in Roane County to Richard Curd. I know this from the record of Peter's second marriage in the late 19th century (May 4, 1893, to Dozzie/Dezzie Moser, age 28; he was 60 at the time acc. to the records).
