Charles A. Helman, 69, of 10499 Newburg Road, Roxbury, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997 in his home.

Born Feb. 23, 1928 in New Franklin, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Grover Cleveland and Mary Keefer Helman.

Retired from Grove Manufacturing, Shady Grove, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Vonnie M. Ile Helman; a son, Thomas C. Helman, of Orlando, Fla.;a daughter, Sherie R. Hurst of Orlando; three brothers, Kenneth E. and Lonnie L. of Chambersburg and Roy D. of Fayetteville; six sisters, Mary Lewis, Carrie Wingert, Betty McClure, Eva Defenderfer, Dorothy Clark, Doris Gayman, all of Chambersburg; a grandson;and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc.,112 W. King St., Shippensburg with the Rev. J. R. Wells officiating. Burial will be in Otterbein Cemetery, Lurgan Township.

Friends may call Friday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.
